Subject: Primer won't dry on "Finecast" wtf?!?

So I broke down and purchased my first Finecost model for a new DE project and am not impressed:
Primer on it is still tacky to the touch days after spraying while the other models I primed dried in hours.
Common issue? Daemonic possession?
Will it dry eventually? Should I just paint over it?

My lad had a finecast wood elf with greatsword last week. The damn thing would not take chaos black hand painted on for the life of me.
Yes it was soaked and cleaned before attempting to paint.

Iv never had issue with can primer on finecast. Even though people say you don't have to, i like to soak in purple power and scrub it down just to clean it first though. It may be best to strip and retry. or retest on the finecast sprue.

Its best if you wash it in some water and soap before you prime it
Gets off all the gunk they put on it to get it out of the mold.

That is my fear, though I did wash it. Maybe not good enough. Automatically Appended Next Post:
It's a krylon flat black primer. Used it to good effect on many metal/plastic/resin models before. Problem with finecast you think?

Yeah I know.
Problem is I did a fair amount of conversion work on this model (archon) so I don't want to send it back, nor rebuild all the conversion work.

I would grab some sprue and try a different primer. Chances are there is something in the primer that is causing the problem.

I have had this problem before and I just sprayed it with Testors dullcoat and it fixed my problem.
EDIT: In my case the finecast just had a bit of release agent left and would not let the paint dry (this may or may not be the issue in this case).

I have had similar probs and no amount of washing seemed to help. In the end I primed the fig with Army Painter anti-shine then primed it again with paint.
A lot of the mould release agents are quite similar to ipa so I would imagine that chuff cast absorbs a fair bit as the resin is so soft, making it hard to wash off or something

Matt pre-primer works on tough resin too. I wonder why that is. There's something in the matte varnish that adheres much better than just acrylic primer.

Possibly the lacquer thinners. Depending on what precisely the matt spray is. I'm going to guess cellulose, or 1pack type paint. Which would use a pretty strong thinner (likely acetone based thinners).
edit; although over in the USA, your laws on what is allowed into paints are more relaxed than ours in the UK. (This is why we struggle to get krylon sprays btw)

I tried the matte varnish and it worked.
Thanks.
As for "Finecost"? GW really needs to get their act together on this line. As somebody who has heard all the complaints about this range I was hoping it was overblown, but my first experience has left me cold to buying another model made from this stuff.
If you are gonna claim something is a premium product and charge a fortune for it, then get your act together on the production end of things. Models that bend/melt under normal room temperatures, come warped as hell and now apparently are adverse to having paint applied to them are anything but "fine"
