Hi all,
My friends recently invited me to join their casual 40k group. I’m a complete newbie, but I really liked the Tau aesthetic and was able to get a bunch of models off Ebay for really cheap. We are all relative beginners, and the games will be friendly, low point level games (not tournament level), but I do want to be competitive against my friends’ Dark Angels and Orks armies (no tanks/big vehicles as far as I can tell). I’ve been looking on this and other 40k boards for advice over the past week, and came up with the following list.
1050 points
HQ - Commander: 194 points
Missile Pod x2, Target Lock, Drone Controller, Neuroweb System Jammer, Puretide Engram Neurochip, XV8-02 Crisis ‘Iridium’ Battlesuit, Marker Drone x2
HQ – Ethereal: 50 points
Elite - 3x XV8 Crisis Team: 253 points
1x Shas’vre: Command and Control node, Multi-Spectrum Sensor Suit, Marker Drone x2; 2x Shas’ui: Missile Pod x2, Target Lock, Marker Drone x2
Elite - XV104 Riptide: 190 points
Ion accelerator, Twin-Linked Fusion Blaster, Early Warning Override
Elite - XV8 Crisis Team: 201 points
3x: Plasma Rifle x2, Stimulant Injector
Troops - Fire Warrior Team: 81 points
9x Fire Warriors
Troops - Fire Warrior Team: 81 points
9x Fire Warriors
The basic strategy is the Marker Crisis Team and Commander move together to provide BS5 Markerlight support and Missile Pod destruction, the Ethereal rides with the Fire Warriors to give them the 12” bubble of support, and the Riptide and other Crisis Team do their destructive duties. I’m not a fan of Pathfinders and would prefer not to use them if at all possible.
Let me know what you guys think. I don’t have many other models, however – all I have is 1 Hammerhead and 6 more Fire Warriors.
Thanks a ton!
