New warhammer 40k player looking for a place to learn how to play within the Greater Manchester area, I only have public transport to get me around though and I live in heywood. Any help of anyone would be great thanks!

The best place to learn to play if you don't have any connections with the local clubs would probably be the central Manchester GW. I know they do a beginners day but I'm unsure when as they normally change the days around in the summer. Check their facebook if you are interested. I know I'll probably be taking part in October when I've moved into the city centre.
Good luck!

There is a good club in Warrington (Northern Warlords if memory serves). One of the guys there has just opened a store though in the Stockport area and I think there is a gaming club onsite.

The store is Element Games - may be worth dropping them a mail?

Adult beginners games at Manchester GW are Thursday nights. They also have beginners games on Sunday afternoons but you'll have to mix it with the munchkins.

Play up Pompey!
