Won't it be awesome if The Transformers franchise (particularly G1) where turned into a miniature wargame? I remember playing them imaginatively with my little brother back in the mid-eighties, but never had a rule set.

In what way, the transforming mechanic is complicated to implement, there are some transformer console games.

Look up Attacktix. It was my first wargame, featuring Star Wars characters that had spring-loaded weapons of various sorts that are used to knock down your opponents miniatures.

They had a Transformers series of miniatures that were compativle with the game.

Reminds me of me and a bud having two bags worth of toy soldiers and shooting at them with rubber bands when I was a kid.

Not really, all you'd need is two models for each character: robot and alt mode.

It would most likely be a skirmish type game with only a few models per side.

The transformation mechanic is easy- each figure gets two kinds of stats, for robot and vehicle mode, and it takes a fighter a complete turn to transform from one to the other.

Either this is a minis game, where there is two figures for each transformer, or you use the small actions figures and actually transform them by hand (preferable for me, as well as many of them are close to 28mm scale so i could use my terrain).

Bot Shots would be a wonderful, and economical way to keep everyone fairly sized. http://www.hasbro.com/transformers/en_US/shop/browse.cfm?N=63+982

I'd take the Fall of Cybertron approach, and create a few movement archetypes. Flying, scout, heavy, etc.

That would cover most of the bots. Then you would have to deal with the weird ones http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Broadside_(G1). Good luck.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.
