Hi, I'm starting a 500 point imperial fists army and I wondered if anyone else had any good, competitive lists up their sleeve before I buy anything. Thanks

500 points is quite a small army, but there are plenty of things you can do. the big question is whether you want it to be cheap £ wise, or the most bang you can get.

Assuming you want lots of dakka, consider

Librarian

Tactical Squad, Multi melta, Melta gun, combi melta

Scout squad, heavy bolter + hellfire

Dakka Pred

Dakka Pred

there are 27 points left over, meaning you can buy some upgrades for the librarian (making him L2) or beef up the scouts with sniper rifles and camo cloaks or some such

If you do get the predators, i would suggest also investing in some small 1mm or 2mm magnets so you can magnetise the sponsons, they have a habit of breaking anyway, but you will save yourself trouble with gluing them back on, and then at bigger points levels have the option of taking Auto las preds which are better.

Imperial fists though have great buffs to devestators, with Tankhunters, so you could instead spend the points of the predators on a devestator squad. tou could get a full squad, and then combat squad it to 2 5 man squads, and have say, 2 HB in one (benefitting from both IF rules) and 2 MM PC or LC in the other for anti tank goodness. the squad will run at up to 220 points depending on how you arm them though.

This army would look like:

Librarian

Tac squad (10), multi melta, melta gun, Combi-melta (or switch for plasma if you have a lot of MM/LC in the dev squad)

5 Scouts, HB

Devestator squad (10), 2HB/MM 2 LC

The devestator boxed set is a real steal and will give you all the heavy weapons you will need. for this army all you would need is 1 tactical boxed set, scout set, librarian and starting off i would definately get 2 devestator sets since then as your army grows you won't need to buy many, if any heavy weapons ever again!
