So I'm going to GD this year and I thought about entering Golden Demon. So I was wondering how you enter? Do you just turn up at the normal time? Do you turn up early? Is there any forms to fill out?
I'm not excepting to win or even get through the first cut but I just want to see if the idea that someone will be judging my work will push me to paint to a higher standard.

Thanks.

There's an entry form that you fill in prior to the day, it's usually available to download on the GW website. Don't worry if you can't do it before the day though as there are usually spares there, it just saves time.

On the day, try and get there as early as you can, but if you're going on a store coach, that might not be possible. There's usually a table just in the entrance where you register your entries, then it's just a matter of heading down to the arena to hand in your entry. Try to get near the appropriate section to hand the model over.

Tips: practice your transportation before the day! I didn't one year and my model literally disintegrated in-transit.

In case of emergencies, have some glue handy if repairs are necessary.

You can never tell what the competition's going to be like year on year... some years the field looks poor, and then the next the competition's really stiff, so good luck. I have a real feeling that it's going to be hard this year because of the lack of French and Spanish Games Days - those guys are heads and shoulders above the UK in terms of painting, and I think they'll be heading over here to snag Golden Demons...

I entered into Golden demon lastyear, much for the same reasons (to push myself to develop more), we turned up pretty much normal time and joined a relatively short queue to collect and fill out the forms before filling into the main hall and handing my items over one by one to the appropriate helpers for the relevant sections.

All in all despite not moving beyond my initial cabinet position I was happy to see others looking at my work and it was a big confidence thing for me.

Collection will be announced over the tannoy but there was something of a packed crowd trying to get their stuff back to wait your turn or risk having peoples elbows coming dangerously close to your models.

To summarise:
Turned up on time
FIlled out forms there
Enjoyed being a part of it
Would do it again.
