So I am wanting to get a little more variety in my marines now that we can ally multiple chapters. Here is the scheme that I have come up with it. Not sure about a chapter symbol right now so I am open to suggestions.

First is the rank and file, then sergeants, then veterans with the white helmet.

Is it going to be grey or metallic? Personally I think grey is hard to do well, because it often just looks like unpainted plastic. And I dont like metallic marines, just...looks wierd to me dunno.

But if you do a dark grey with the bone colored chest and shoulders that will look pretty good I think.

Also another thing to think on as a space marine, the bolter is a BIG piece of the model, how are you painting that?

I was thinking of just grey not metallic. I wanted to do a lighter scheme as the one I have for most of my marines is quite dark. I would prefer to stay away from dark color for this reason.

What other color do you think would go with the bone (kindof set on that part)? I do not want to paint red or yellow marines but I am open to suggestions.

As for the bolter I was going to do black and metal maybe edge some parts in bone.

Thanks for the help

As long as the grey is dark enough to let the white stand out the scheme should look good. I like number 1 the most.

I really like this one. If it were me though I would do the entire model the bone color and use the grey to outline things like the shoulder pads, belt and flexible areas of the armor.

Thanks for the opinions. I will put up a picture when I get a test model done.

Well here is the first test model. I did a veteran with the white helmet and white borders on the shoulders. Let me know what you think.

A lighter grey basecoat perhaps?

What color would you recommend? Do you think it looks to much like bare plastic?

What I did for this one is basecoat in vallejo dark grey I think its called and then did the layers starting with trollblood highlight adding white as I went.

I would have a color under the grey, like a black, beige, bone, or even a blue or green. Which ever you prefer, but it would give the model a depth and not instill the thought that you didn't paint those parts of the model.
