For over a year now I wanted to make an Ork Army that would be Flyer based. (Ever since the wonderfull Dakka-Jet came out). I have a lot of ideas and material but not the time I wish for. Nevertheless did I start. And after a couple of month without doing anything I decided to go on and get more done. I hope that this thread will help me to keep going. Especially since I need help in some areas. So it will be good to have someone to ask.
Eventually this army should be played on the battlefield but modelling and fun stand before efficiency. I really need to get 2 troops and my HQ done.
Center of my Waaagh is going to be the great Waaaghburg - a mighty airship. Which means that everything has to fit the flying theme. My Trucks will be Helikopters or simular flying vehicles. Of course there will be Dakka-Jets and Bommaz as well. I already started to work on something special for my Waaaghboss on Bike which I will share soon.
Well pics say more than a thousand words, so here are some pics of the stuff I started with.

Thank you,
so far I have mostly been building/converting big Terrain pices. This was a test if I could get some vehicles done as well. It was really fun. But I could still use some ideas for my second trukk, because I don´t just want to make an identical one, but it should go into the same direction.
I might start with a unit of grots beforehand, since I already have an idea for those. Maybe I can get a testmodell done in my lunchbrake today. We will see.
Oh and most importantly - the sliding doors on the trukk are working

Of course there had to be so much to do at work today....
But being back home at least I managed to do a quick test fit. So this is my idea of integrating the grot unit into my theme.
The picture quality will get better I promise. But I wanted to post my idea at least. What do you guys think.
Your thoughts are more than welcome.

Well, it has been quite a while since I was able to get something done. But finally the day has come and I was able to find some time for our crazy Hobby.
So, my little Grot is slowly getting where I want him to be. I will still have to work on the balloon itself to give it more texture. This is what he Looks now:
But this it not all. I was able to work on my "Nobbiker" as well. I know the size and hight is not as fortunate on the tabe but I think it will look great. Do you guys think he is still missing something? Would you give him additional shoulderplates?
Please let me know what you think.

So, slowly it comes together. I think the Grot is coming along nicely and fits into a flying Army theme. The paintjob is not finished yet but I´m getting there. But I guess now you can see where I want to go with this unit. Next step will be to start a produktion line so I can get a full unit of these guys.
As well I was able to work a Little bit on my "Nobbiker". I finished the smole effekt. This is the first time I tried this. I´m just not sure if I managed it right. Would you guys do it differently, do the Colors work, what do you think?

Thank you Zogg. That gives hope that my work is leading somewhere.
So, I did get a little bit done last night. Still I wasn´t able to finish the paintjob on the "testgrot" but I was able to get him some friends. It will be some work to get the baloons done but at least doing a whole Batch of them, combined with not having to try out how to do it, makes it a lot faster. Which is great, But at the same time quiet boring as well
In the end I had some parts sorted, grots prepared and bases on the way.
But something is definitely wrong with my camera, I did already update the Software and did a reset on all the settings. But still - it feels like the sensors of my Nikon D80 are not working right.

Thank you lennymaybe. I´m really happy with the way they turned out. Saddly I made only little progress on those guys.
I got a little bit sidetracked. Space Hulks fly too, right!? And I love playing on the Zone Mortalis tiles from Forgeworld. But wouldn´t it be even better to play on an Ork Space Hulk? So I found myself trying a couple of things. And this is what I started with. I´m going to make this one tile which was organized in smaller floor pieces. That way I can cast them later and have a great range of variety to make the tiles I want. Without having them all look the same. Plus I can even add new pieces later on.
There wasn´t much to find design-wise. So If anyone has some ideas or pictures etc. I would be really happy to see them. So far the biggest help was the Red Orktober.
