I know this is a pretty basic question and I could probably do some research to find the answer, I'm going to post it anyway because the people here give decent explanation that are easier to comprehend than on the wikis

Anyway how do Necrons travel the galaxy in short spaces of time. Dark Eldar have the webway, Imperium has warp drives, etc. what is so special about Necron tech that makes them able to traverse the vast expanse of the Milky Way??

Dolmen Gates, they are doors in the webway they can use, see it as Neo using the matrix for shortcuts...

It used to be they had FTL travel, which was cool and made a lot of sense.

Since Ward/Newcrons they hack into the Webway though.

Actually they still have ftl travel and can hack the webway. See IA 12 for details.

Necrons use the webway too, though they access it through dolmen gates. Without access to the dolmen gates they're forced to use slow going stasis ships.

And gobble lightyears worth of empty space in days using their material universe drives. "Slow going stasis ships" is slow relative to using the webway. But the new IA shows that they are not slow by anymeans.
