I threw this "counts as" grav gun bit together this afternoon. Not interested in spending 20+ bucks on ebay for two of them so I will have a couple printed. Just letting you guys know you can order this bit from my shop. I recomend the white detail print. I just ordered two myself in the standard material so I'll post pictures once I get them assembled and then painted.

LINK REMOVED

This is not a perfect replica of the GW bit. It has some changes to the basic design and will likely never be as detailed. Its also not tournament legal.

You spelled too wrong; I also expect advertising in this forum is against some rule.

White detail costs 3x as much as what I paid for actual grav guns from Valhalla Games.

sure enough it in the legal stuff. Link will be removed. But I will post pictures later

Oh, and I don't know about where you live, but a quick ebay search before I made these saw the offical ones selling for about $11 USD

They're new, they're hot, and they're in very low supply. When demand is high and supply is low, the price is high.

Either convert your own, pay the price, or wait until the mass panic to get them dies down a bit and there becomes more on the market.

They're the new hot part - people who don't want an entire new tactical squad are simply buying the bits, that's why the price is so high. Demand is up. Give it a couple of months and prices will settle back down.

Few people would have a problem with "everything that's modeled as plasma is instead grav" imo, if that was your only counts as. It's an easy to see, army wide counts as that works well.

Then once supply goes up and demand goes down, you can look at replacing them.

I paid £2.50 each for three of them at the end of last week but I notice that the seller has now doubled the price so they are more in line with the other options. It get to the point where it is cheaper to buy the sternguard kit for the gravs and then sell the rest yourself.

im inclined to go with this option and i dont even like or support counts as usually.

but invalidating the other special weapons just seems like a blatant cash grab to me. overpowered half baked rules.

It isn't hard to just do some minor conversion to a plasma gun/pistol. You aren't required to use the grav weapon bits... just put in a bit of effort and you'll save $$.

I think the forge world’s volkite caliver set would make a good count as. £11.00 for 10 or about $24us.

Use plasma parts and paint the power coils different colors. Simple to tell your opponent blue is plasma, red is grav. No confusion.

Anyone who wants to use new options, but doesn't want to buy new models...?

Unfortunately, having to change your army every time your codex gets revised is just one of the extra 'fun' things that comes with this game. Although, of course, if you don't want to convert your finished models, there is also the option of just not using grav weapons...

Or you can go GW's prayed-for result and just buy new models. All the models. All the time. Update came out? REPLACE WHOLE ARMY! New bit of wargear in the Codex? REPLACE WHOLE ARMY! Fluff-story in WD suggested the bolt-pistol be carried on the left hip? REPLACE WHOLE ARMY!

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, kind of going with that last option over here. If I did use them, I think I would just covert them, since the grav tip is probably all you would need to sell it to your opponent, and the difficulty on making your own is probably right around the level of sandblasting a soup cracker.

Of course they cost too much. They're GW products (which already makes them steep), and to make matters worse they're in ridiculously short supply.
