Trying to make at least a semi competitive list for Salamanders using miniatures I like / interest me. The design for my army is I want them to be really war torn and drudgy / heavy lumbering soldiers
to display the undying nature of Vulkan himself! True 'ghosts' as they're referred to!

Problems I have

60pts still left to spend
Nowhere for Vulkan to go
Lack of experience with 'modern day' space marines to gauge effectiveness / endurance.


What I'm going for in this list is split priorities.
Turn 1 rolls in they have 3 of the 5 pods down putting assault troops in the enemies midst flaming units and causing big hits to there infantry. With the Damocles sitting out the way for the time being the drop accuracy should be almost perfect
Drop the dread in turn one to cause a little more fuss in the enemies deployment.

Meanwhile you have an achilles rolling up, a democles full of stern with master crafted weapons and a MOTF with the emperors wrath as well as 3 dev cent's running gravity cannons. 24inch reroll failed wounds AND the sergeants grav cannon is master crafted.

With the impending second turn the enemy either clears there lines of assault troops or focuses on the large force approaching. Chances are the achilles won't die even if they focus it and any damage will be repaired on a 2+ in the consecutive phase. Not only this but legion of the damned will be deep striking in with a rerollable scatter, the rest of the drop pods will start to fall from then onwards.

Things I don't like? It doesn't feel overly killy as it perhaps could be and I don't like not having a strong unit to put Vulkan in, I.e Terminators. Alternatively I suppose he could go in the achilles but I feel like he's really missing a unit that he truly needs.

I'm probably wrong but for some reason I thought the Damocles didn't have a transport capacity? Can you tell me?

It's no biggy. Drop pods are fairly accurate on their own anyway, so if that was the main reason for using the Damocles don't worry about it. Just swap it for a standard rhino or even better a razorback. All good
