So I have a little idea, I don't know how clever it is, you'll be the judge.

Could there be a sticky thread in the P&M Blogs where people can post something like "I just put up pics of my finished Polish Cavalry! Go there, check it out and post a comment!" with a picture and a link (and a page number) to lure viewers to their thread?

The reason I'm suggesting it is because there are plenty and plenty of threads in that section. It'd be nice to have a collected thread where people can post what's going on in their blog, and where viewers can go to see what's cool, and find projects they otherwise perhaps never would have found. I mean, rather than clicking through every thread in that section to just potentially find something they'd like.

Comments on projects would ideally not be allowed in that thread, but they'd had to be made in the blog thread in question.

Also, the reason I didn't just create such a thread is because I feel someone else could do a better one than I could, and I wouldn't want to have it flooded with "Uh, what's the point of this?"-posts. So I wanted to see what people think first.

So, thoughts?

Probably work

It would create yet another place a mod would have to constantly police for "format violations". Also, what's the actual point of this? I mean, it seems like we'd just end up with people needing to make a post in their P&M blogs thread (which would bump their thread anyway) AND in this thread, which seems redundant and not very helpful.

Unless you're talking about EXTERNAL blogs, in that case, I'd rather see them go away altogether. If you can't be bothered to post content here for me to see if I'm interested, I can't be bothered to click on your blog to see your three color Ultramarines, create an account on your blog, and then comment on it.

Hmm, seems like needless duplication to me.
If you post a blog in the P&M blog forum, it will get looked at, even more so if its regularly updated.
I dont think there is a single (current) thread in the P&M forum that hasnt got responses, views and comments.

Posting a "hey I have a blog post" in a stickied thread that is likely to grow to ridiculous proportions is pointless imho.

Trust the forum goers to view, review and comment on your blog.

Put it in your sig instead. Easy enough to have it there, and you can update it at will.

I keep a thread in the Infinity Sub-Forum exactly like this. The OP is a list of linked blogs and showcase threads about Infinity miniatures. Many of us post a little alert when we update our blogs to divert traffic. It's also a bonus for readers who want to find updates on Infinity.

The thing is, it's useful to us because Infinity threads are niche and so get lost quickly. That's the reason for organising ourselves this way. We wan't to see Infinity and it can be hard to find. If that's the reason to do it then it doesn't apply in a more general way, the system stops working if it applies to any blog.

What you could do is set up a similar system for Tau or IG or Warmahordes or whatever it is you're into. Then there is a purpose and a community that will benefit from it.
