I know what you mean, I get that empty feeling too when I know that all of the modelling, conversion, basing has ended and it's actually time to do some real work , pick up a brush and get painting.

You mean the can didnt spray paint?
could be set inside the can, couldve used ti all, couldve leaked all the airpressure out, nozzle could be blocked, could need a damned good shake.. any number of things.

Sounds like the nozzle is blocked. Perhaps someone had tested it instore or had you tested it when you bought it?
Shake it really hard for a few minutes then spray upsidedown for a few blasts to clear it.
Then try using as normal.
If that doesn't work then maybe try buying a new one and swapping the nozzles over?
You should always spray the can for a short burst upsidedown after each session to clear the nozzle and stop paint drying within it.

Or it didnt get shaken enough before being sprayed, and it siphoned up a solid clump of goopy pigments that didnt get mixed into solution.
Turning it upside down might not help if theres already clumpy paint in the pickup tube- and you cant clear it out the can might be a write off if the tube gets totally blocked.
The first time you use a new can of paint you gotta shake them an extra couple of minutes since the pigments can settle while they sit on the store shelf(and you dont always know how long that might be).

as it was a nice day today here in the UK i found out what the the problem was which was that it was empty,a full 180ml of primer on just 7 models, which now means I will be using Halfods stuff from now on also by the way that primer costed around £9 - £10 : (

I cant imagine emptying a can that fast. One thing that people often miss with primers like Mr. Hobby and Tamiya Super Fine is that you really need to shake them. Really, really shake them a lot.
Normally the first time I use one of those I will shake it till my arm goes numb, than switch and shake till the other arm goes numb. Than after I regain felling, I will do it again. A bit of an exageration, but just barely.
A lot of stuff gets impacted in the bottom of the cans as they float across the oceans on their slow boats, so they need more effort to get them back in form once they reach our hands compared to a locally manufactured (at least the same continent) aerosol.

Halfords grey is my own weapon of choice.
Their matt black paint, is another favorite, and recently I've enjoyed their 'cammoutflage colours' paints (particularly the khaki one)

You did say 180ml can, thats really small as spray cans go.
It would be rather unable to hold a great deal of air, and wouldnn't last too long when compared to a regular sized 400ml or 500ml can.
Halfords stuff comes in 300 and 500ml cans. I believe the Citadel ones are 400ml? and Army painter are 400ml.
That said, 7 figures is a bit pitiful for a whole can. I think youl have a much better time with the Halfords cans. For the £9-10 that this 180ml can costed... youd do better to go to GW and buy citadel :S which is saying something!

The difference is that while GW likes to pretend they offer top shelf products, Mr. Hobby is a top shelf product.
They are always highly rated amoungst miniature and model painters and they manage all production internally as opposed to using an outside supplier (or in the case of GW, several which change every few years).
That said, for the cost of a few aerosol cans you can get set up with an airbrush and use the same high quality paints to prime with at a much lower unit cost. The 40 ml bottles go for about $9 or so, and when applied with an airbrush, 40 ml will cover a lot of models, miniatures and whatever else you might have to deal with.
It cuts through various mold releases and other resin related issues that can cause regular primers to not adhere well or even sometimes not cure in a reasonable amount of time. Of course, that aspect is helped along by solvents, so people need to take proper precautions when airbrushing compared to acrylics.

I primed a DKoK 35-men platoon with that exact same product 3 weeks ago.
I agree with Sean_OBrien about shaking the can until your arms go numb.
But also very important with this product: Fill a recipient with hot water. Let the can sit in the water for a while. Start priming. Put it back in the hot water when you notice that the pressure is going down. Wait a couple of minutes. Start over. This will help you to get the most out of it.
Ideally you should have two cans. While you use one the other is sitting in the hot water. When the pressure drops you swap.
