Strategy:
Trying out the new
SM codex with my old salamanders. So the core of this list is based around the Chapter Master and his beatstick ball smashing squad. I know some of you are seeing Power Mauls on the honor guards and are saying
WTF... but after looking at the math a buddy convinced me that Mauls perform much better against all armor values and only slightly less than power swords against
MEQ. The Autarch synergizes with the Chapter Master, any fight he joins cause enemies to be at I1. He ideally will be advancing behind the
LR and looking for troops to harass or to support the beatstick unit. The jetbikes are late game objective grabbers, the
SM troops will just walk on from reserves onto backfield objectives. The Wraith Knight and Landraider are bullet sponges. Sternguard provide a turn 1 distraction while everything advances, and the thunderfire cannon is pumping out long range fire support. This list lacks tons of shooting, but it looks fairly durable and mobile on paper and will really excel once in the opponents backline.
