At my club the only player that gives me any trouble at all is an Eldar player that fields as many Wave Serpents as are possible to fit in. Does anyone have an easy way to deal with them? I usually use massed Missile Pods/High-Yield Missile Pods, but I tend to lose 2/3rds of my army before I wreck the last one.

What does the eldar have left to fight your third after you've wrecked every last one of his serpents? If he's running 5+ of them, your 1/3 should be sufficient to deal with whatever he has left, no?

i have opposite problem. you tau beta my serpen spam to easy. my adviseto you: lotsofmarket lights. serpents require cover, and without they die. lots o missiles still works, just make sure to be in range. get close as you ca nso there serpents can run away

You could always deep strike with FB for rear armor that doesn't have shielding.

Ninja is right Markerlights will eliminiate wave serpents pretty fast. markerlight squads are my first target when I play against tau. typically I've been seeing the following 1 squad 5-6 markerlight drones (with commander) and 2 squads of 4-6 pathfinders. all 3 fast attack slots filled. They are able to take out 2 out of 3 Serpents rather easily, however I'm fielding enough support units (Dark Reapers Warp Spiders and Jetbikes) to eliminate enough of them early on.

Another solution is mass burst cannon shots from deep striking suits into the back of the serpents, however loading suits out with just burst cannons does weaken your over all firepower.

Your quite right, He doesn't have anything left to fight with after I wreck his Serpents, but the 45 minute time limit usually runs out about then, meaning I don't get the wipe, and I have come in second twice for this reason. I want a wipe, I am sick and tired of not getting first place. I haven't gotten first place once since the new codex dropped, and the fact that Tau are supposed to be amazing right now just makes that worse...

I generally use massed Missile Pods mixed with ignores cover and tank hunters on one squad, and it works well. I have even taken out a few Serpents by outflanking Krootox or Firewarriors, but I never seem to be able to kill everything and deal with the Serpents in the same 45 minute game.
