Howdy all,

I've acquired most everything listed below, the one exception has been starred *. I enjoy a somewhat fluffy, semi-competitive build. I'm not into aping any tourney lists, and am more than happy to have to play harder for my wins with a more dynamic list. That being said, I'm about 150pts short of my max build size goal, and feel I need something solid to fill the gap.

HQ

Warlock w/Conceal
Farseer
Spiritseer
Spiritseer

Troops
10 Guardians w/ Weapon Platform (Warlock)
10 Dire Avengers w/ Exarch w/ Shimmershield & Power Weapon
5 Wraithguard w/ D-scythes w/ Wave Serpent w/ HF and TL SL (Spiritseer)
5 Wraithguard w/ Wave Serpent w/ HF and TL SL (Spiritseer)
5 Wraithblades w/ Axe and Force Shield *

Heavy Support
3 War Walkers w/ SL and StC
Fire Prism w/ HF
Wraithlord w/ 2 BL and Flamers

So right now, I've placed the Wraithblades squad in to fill the gap, but I've not purchased this unit yet. I'm concerned that I'm a bit weak AA wise, and that I need another boots on the ground threat to draw fire and threaten the middle of the board. I do plan on getting a Wraithknight, but that will probably wait til January.

One of the biggest strengths of the Iyanden book is to have spiritseers galore. I question the use of a farseer, as he has nowhere safe to go, unless you could get 10 wraithblades on the table. 10 blade+spiritseer and farseer are quite nasty. Guide for the walkers and stuff is not that critical.

I would drop the warlock for a spiritseer if you can swing points too. If you look at it, a spiritseer is 2 warlocks, with some boosts. Ld9 is critical to powers going off, and 2 wounds so you don't perils and die.

A ghostglaive is cool for your lord, if you can swing one. Also, remember that the death mark for the seer won't really benefit the scythes.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Thanks Serling! I had planned on using the Guardians as backfield objective holders - thus the warlock with conceal. And despite not listing it, I had added in a glaive for the Wraithlord, who I planned on running as the Warlord. Good note on the spirit seers mark being ineffective with the template weapons, but I'm still interested in including him for VoT. The Farseer is intended to guide critical shooting, like that of the fire prism or WL. I'm still iffy on the Wraithblades up the middle of the field. I feel they'll get eaten up by enemy fire very quickly, but I'm not certain standard wraith guard would fair any better (but may threaten sooner!).

How about not taking the blades, and instead taking a crimson hunter? A fantastic AA hunter, and a tank hunter. The one downfall is it is a little weak. Wraith knights are a must in my list, they just deal horrendous amounts of death. If you want backfield objective holders nothing quite matches the rangers. And you can get 10 for the cost of the guardians and a warlock. Plus they get stealth as standard, a much bigger range, and precision shots all round. Plus they wound ANYTHING on a 4+.

Just some thoughts mate.

while i agree, another option for back feild grabbing is eldar jet bikes. maybe even through in a warlock with conceal. thats a nice late game objective grabber.

I agree bikes are an excellent choice, unfortunately I'm not a big fan of the old models, so bikes will have to wait for a new release or until I get the gumption to convert my own. The rangers are a good suggestion, if I can get a decent deal on 10, I'd have no problem adding them in. I already have a squad of 10 guardians, so they'll be fielded for at least a few games. I can't wait to field a Wraithknight, but that'll have to wait til next year. Getting my whole army assembled and painted before the end of October is a tough deadline, and that model is gonna take a little while to paint!

I'm the same, can't stand the bike models. And that alone is enough to put me off! I run 2 knights and a lord. It's pretty much the core of my destruction bringing! I also have 5 d scythes, 5 guard and 5 blades. The blades are by far my most wasted points so far! Contemplating swapping them out for normal guard.

Could do with more scythes though, those weapons are epic!
