For its points is it worth taking? It's cheaper then the achilles, more high strength fire power, cermite plating and a larger hold capacity
I feel like the extra capacity is a bit of an over kill, very rarely will you have a unit big enough to make use of it below 2500pts.
Would you allow it to be used against you in 1000pts
Would you allow it against you in 2000pts alongside achilles and Helios

I would not let someone use it unless they had the official model and it was properly setup.
If someone told me they wanted to play three variant landraiders I'd immediately suspect them of reading about them on a forum and wanting to powergame

I'd fight it In fact I think I may have done already. I know I've fought the achilles. The IA book says its legal for 40k and as you won't buy it for less than 300pts or so, I think it'd actualy be a bit of a handicap at 1k. Its on my list of planned purchases - I think at 2k, it'd be great. I normally play chaos - 10 termies, Abby and a Sorc should be a good start

Well, I've been considering it. I was looking at running a Helios, Spartan and Achilles in the nature that minotaurs have all the toys.
But I'm not 100% on if I'm going to do that though I do really like the spartan assault tanks model as its not your usual landraider.
Was just curious of peoples views. It comes out at around 295pts so it is CHEAPER then the achilles

Yes but you need to buy Melta immunity, can't get lance immunity, no thunderfire cannon, nor an option for a -1 on the damage roll.
Although the Legion list version has some funny options.
In any case, the Spartan is a perfect way to deliver that entire squad of Assault Terminators you've been waiting to barf on someone to ruin their day.
Great durability and effectively double the firepower of a Godhammer.
Never take the rapiers though, the dualshot lascannons are far better.

That is true, 20 points for the cermite. Though I feel its weaponry is superior to the Achillies but I don't think that will stop me running both because an achilles running around with a tech marine inside just creates all kinds of trouble.
And yes! Delivery of terminators was my plan for the spartan, though I still think the 25man hold is a little over kill. if I were to fit 10 terms and moloc thats looking at 1000pts of armored goodness in a can but very little to support it.

A friend of mine made his own. He puts 25 Death Company in it with a Reclusiarch.

24 and a reclusiarch you mean.
Its a great tank. I especially like how it is the one tank in the ame you can see the degradation of technology from the heresy era to 40k times. As a 340 point tank in the Heresy, it is a true hard as hell to kill tank. The modern version even with ceramite is but a poor shadow of its former self. I still havent decided which army I am going to use it for, my 30k or 40k armies. Currently leaning towards 40k since thats my tank heavy force.
I would have no issue with it, especially as I use one myself. Its not near the cheesefactor of an Achilles.
Unfortunately it appears that space marines are appearing to have only a couple main builds, go drop pod heavy or go heavy armor heavy. To get the full 40k use out of this tank you either pop in termies, or play chaos or black templars to get the full 20 man squads(or BA like the above guy mentions).

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

Thing thats a pain is you can't use it as ad educated transport like a land raider because it doesn't count as a land raider

In a 1k or 2k game, I don't think that matters too much. Its a 300pt tank - something is going to have to be cut to put it in the list anyway - may as well be the predator annihilator making space in the HS - the spartan outguns it...completely.

I would fill it with a full assault termies squad + 2 termies chaplains, combat squad and profit.

The points cost of filling it, especially with terminators is just too much for any 2000pt battle unless its the only vehicle going though @.@

If you take a tank as a dedicated transport.
When your deploying can you start inside a transport that isn't there dedicated transport and leave the other one empty?
Odd question I know xD

Your transports don't need to be educated. "Ignorance is a virtue."

I'll have you know that my Land Raider is well versed in the arts of science. He even knows the theory of relativity inside out. Doesn't stop him from getting immobilised though.
