Dont have a codex with me, can tactical use a heavy flamer? And why give a dreadnought a missile launcher for close combat? Otherwise looks ok but then I'm pretty new to marines myself

While i would love them to be able to, your TACs can't have a heavy Flamer. If your going to take your commander on a bike you should probably just take a few of your troops on bikes as well. Automatically Appended Next Post: For the Captain i recomend dropping the bike and giving him a Storm Shield then tossing him with your assualt termies. Makes your Warlord REAALLLLYYYY hard to kill, and lets him really do something besides getting shot off the board on turn 1. Thus giving them Slay the Warlord and First Blood.

Thank you for the feedback. However I just wanted to let my captain charge basic infantry with the bike and he would most likely do a lot of damage. Automatically Appended Next Post: However If you have any different opinions as a captain load out or even a different HQ please feel free.

Meltas I believe. that way you can pop some tanks and then use the Special Issue Ammunition. You are going to want a drop pod though...

I'd actually disagree on melta.
1) If you go melta on the SG, you're wasting your special issue ammo because chances are you'll be shooting at a vehicle.
2) 5 SG is a suicide unit, so if you only have the points for 2
combi weapons, forget them. Take 2 Heavy Flamers for the same points and then you're not wasting your special issue ammo.

Wrong. Combi meltas don't waste special ammo. Heavy flamers do.

5 man Sternguard units will be alive for 1 turn. ONE. TURN.
So you tell me what's more of a waste:
1) 2 melta shots at a Manticore/Wave Serpent/Skyray etc, with Special ammo plinking off the armor
OR
2) 2 Heavy Flamers templates baking some Guardsman/Guardians/Firewarriors and 6 rapid fire Special Ammo shots getting thrown into a unit they can actually hurt?
Do I need to play the jeopardy music? I didn't think so. If you don't have the points to go 5 combi-melta, you are WASTING POINTS GIVING THEM 2 COMBIs.
That doesn't mean I'm advocating the use of the unit. I think it's a poor application of the points. He'd be better off squeezing an Ironclad in. Or finding the points to flesh the Sternguard out.
If you want suicide melta, deep striking land speeders with MM aren't bad either as you only need to get within 12" to get the melta effect.
NOT endorsing its use, but the way he's running it, taking 2 combi-meltas is an absolute waste. Automatically Appended Next Post: To the OP:
1) Note the above, decide who's right. (Hint, it's me).
2) Regular Dreadnoughts are underwhelming. Ironclads are better; always in drop pods.
3) Stormraven > Land Raider.
4) Vindicators are underwhelming in today's meta; and especially so when run alone. You really need two if you're going to run any. I'd cut it and use the points to upgrade to an Ironclad in pod and flesh out the Sternguard.

Ha, I respect wit.
And the Aussie's too. I served alongside a few of you and you conducted yourselves well. So sorry if I came off a bit strong there, but when someone just says "Wrong." to me I feel the need to rebut if I feel I'm in the right.

You're actually right though shrike. I hadn't considered the tactical ramifications, I was merely looking at it from the pov of losing the special ammo after buying the heavy flamer. I also apologize for being blunt. Well played mate.
