I haven't rolled a single die in about 14 years! I first started playing 40k in 1997, playing a little 2nd edition, but was around for the big change to 3rd edition. I had a big Imperial Fists force, which I was really proud of, (although my Dad did the painting in those days). For numerous reasons, my interest began to wane, and eventually vanish. I've always kept somewhat abreast of the developments in the GW world, but never really did anything until lately. The launch of the new Space Marines seemed the ideal time to start collecting again! I have the new codex, and also picked up the rulebook. I've always been more of a modeler than a gamer, but I am looking forward to playing a game or two.

I've read the first five of the Horus Heresy novels, which I've really enjoyed, and have the next ten ready to read. I think those have been a big part of my return to the hobby.

Anyways, looking forward to hopefully contributing to the forums!

Hey there Robbie! Welcome back to the hobby and to Dakka!

Space marines, eh? Usually a pretty good choice, especially if you're getting back into the game after a long hiatus (just like myself). I also got back into the hobby due to the HH novels.

I too am a modelmaker and enjoy sculpting, converting and designing battlefield architecture. It's on the backburners at the moment (due to other commissioned work taking precedence) but I have a space hulk project linked to the Dread Hulk banner in my sig, if you're interested.

If you ever fancy bringing your marines to a narrative campaign weekend in future, then checkout Animosity Events for some friendly, fluff-driven crusades against all manner of xenos filth...

I have some other modelling projects on there too, including a Rogue Trader plastic space marine conversion.
