This is exactly why. The problem is that you have only ONE vehicle serving each role. Thus destroying that single vehicle destroys your army's ability to perform that function. If you have two vehicles serving that role, then you have redundancy - back up. Your opponent has to kill both to remove that capability from you.
With that said, I don't see how the predator is serving a critical role. In particular, since you have 3 autocannons in your guard platoon you don't really need one more mounted on a vehicle. And the lascannons are not really needed it you use the Grey Hunter's meltaguns appropriately. In fact, lascannons are not much better than krak missiles in practice. Sure they can penetrate AV14, but the odds of actually doing so and causing permanent damage - not a shaken or stunned - is really very low. Even with both of your lascannons shooting, the odds of you hitting, penetrating and causing an explosion on an AV14 vehicle is less than 5%.
On the other hand, the Vindicator is the only model in your army that lobs a pie plate of doom. While I would prefer to have the Lehman Russ Demolisher because of it's higher front
AV, the Vindicator is a decent substitute. But you should get two of them. Just be sure to shoot them AWAY from your Grey Hunters.
