Settle an argument me and my friends are having. Some are saying once per combat is per combat turn, others are saying that's until the combat is done and another one is started.

What ability is this in regards to?

Not sure offhand...walked into the middle of an argument. None of us can find it in the big book of knowledge. So I came to you guys.

So you do not know what ability says once per combat?

then why does this matter?

(I am just trying to see if there is any clues in the wording of the ability).

They packed up and left lol. I know the ability said "can only happen once per combat". I know because it was screamed about 30 times.

And in all that time you didn't ask "what?"

If the exact wording is "once per combat" then it is only once per combat. Combat doesnt end until either everyone is dead or one side flee's.


There is no ability im aware of that can be used once per combat turn except master craft weapon reroll, and psychic powers that take place in the combat phase.

What armies where the two people in question playing?

Chaos vs once. Has somthing to do with multiple units assaulting.

Chaos daemons? Was it the challenge rule?
Forget the name of it...

Once per combat is refferring to the entire assault, not just one turn of it.

Csm..sorry forget daemons...everybody I know just says daemons..it might be in regards to the challenge rules..i can't find any abilities in either codex that says once per combat.

Its once per entire combat. If it were to work every player turn, then it would say "once per assault phase"

Once per combat would mean once per combat, not once per phase.

But without knowing what the context was, that's pretty meaningless.

ok, if it has to do with challange rules then that is somthing that occurs once per turn.

A challange is issued at the start of the combat "phase" and may be reissued every combat.

in the case of chaos, they have alot of models that HAVE TO challange every combat which means every turn of said combat.

This is not actually correct.

Challenges can be issued every turn, provided there is not one currently going in that combat. You can only have one ongoing challenge at a time, but could potentially still have more than one challenge per combat.

I can't find any rule in the C:CSM that refers to once per combat.
