Okay so I haven't played in 4 years, read through the vanilla marines book and made an army list. I'm not going for the world's most competitive but I don't want to be tabled turn two of every game
Chapter Master: Relic weapon, storm shield, artificer armour and helmet has in-built auspex: 195pts
6 man Honour Guard: Chapter Banner: 160pts
Techmarine: Auspex and combi-weapon: 65pts
Ironclad dreadnought: 2 heavy flamers and a chainfist: 145pts
6 man Sternguard Veteran squad: 4 combi-meltas: 182pts
In a Drop Pod: locator beacon: 45pts
6 man Tactical Squad: Flamer: 89pts
In a Razorback: Assault Cannon and storm bolter: 80pts
6 man Tactical Squad: Flamer: 89pts
In a Razorback: Assault Cannon and storm bolter: 80pts
6 man Tactical Squad: Flamer: 89pts
In a Razorback: Assault Cannon and storm bolter: 80pts
Storm Raven: Assault Cannon and Multi Melta: 200pts
1499pts

The 'plan' is all the razorbacks scout up, let loose with their AC whilst the sternguard and techmarine pop any nasty looking armour. Then the storm raven shows up to shoot down enemy flyers and the dread/Chapter Master and his Honour Guard jumps out next to the drop pod locator beacon. In an ideal world ofc Any and all tips/advice gratefully received (like I said it's been a long time since I wrote one of these lol)

Wherever they tell me

Interesting list, I'll see if I can give you some help
-Ironclads desperately need drop pods. They don't have the range to threaten the whole field, and they don't have the speed to close the gap. Stick him in a drop pod and you won't regret it.
-Your Techmarine really doesn't fit well into this list. Nothing you have will take advantage of his fortify ability, which is a huge waste.
-Don't walk your honour guard and chapter master. They'll get melted miles from the enemies lines and will be very dissapointed. Either put them on bikes or drop pod them in.
-If I remember correctly, the transport capacity for Razorbacks is 5. I also didn't think they could take Assault Cannons (did you mean heavy bolters?)
-Storm Ravens pair perfectly with Stormtalons. I highly recommend you find a way to free up 125 points and bring them both.

Hope that all helps. Didn't mean to sound like such a downer on your list :(

The plan is he closes the gap via the storm raven. Same goes for the master and his honour guard; like I said in my initial post the plan is to drop them out of the storm raven whilst zooming using the "skies of fury" special rule.
"-Your Techmarine really doesn't fit well into this list. Nothing you have will take advantage of his fortify ability, which is a huge waste."
Admittedly he's gonna be much more useful in 2k when I get some devvies, but he's an additional combi-melta and a 2+ save in the sternguard unit + that auspex could come in handy for shooting MEQs with the sternguard's vengeance rounds.
"-If I remember correctly, the transport capacity for Razorbacks is 5. I also didn't think they could take Assault Cannons (did you mean heavy bolters?)"
Just checked my codex in case I'd made a silly it's capacity is deffo 6 and assault cannons are a 20pt upgrade

My mistake, I don't have the book in front of me

My immediate temptation is to drop the honor guard and put the chapter master in the squad with the sternguards. However, my experience with those two units is lacking and I'm not sure how best to use honor guard or what gear they have. However, if you did that then you wouldn't have to worry about your army coming in piecemeal and you'd get a Stormtalon.

I'll try to remember to comment more when I get home. You run a very different list than I do so I don't have all your options memorized

"its a different type of list, if i were you id have some assault marines because they are raven guard"
I had planned on Vanguard vets instead of the honour guard but I found them to be more expensive for less goodness, plus they're a successor chapter; they don't have to follow their parent chapter to the letter E.G IF and BT

"My immediate temptation is to drop the honor guard and put the chapter master in the squad with the sternguards."
The thing is I plan to follow the time honoured tradition of 'shoot the assaulty stuff and assault the shooty stuff'. I know that against TEQs in combat the honour guard are gonna get squished. Mebbe Termies would be a better alternative? they are more expensive though for less models and less attacks.

I really like it. At 2k I'd add Assault marines and another IronPod

I was actually thinking assault marines in 2k- mebbe have them hide... I mean follow behind the razorbacks until chargey time, mebbe with a chaplain? I unno I'm not that keen on his AP4 crozius. Also mebbe another AC razorback with 6 dudes again. Oh... and ty I'm actually quite excited to get back into the hobby.

Assault squads are good.

5x Man Assault Squad - 95 pts
2x Flamers
in FREE Drop Pod

They give up jump packs for a free transport.

or....

10x Man Assault Squad - 205 pts
2x Flamers, Power Fist

w/ Chaplain - 130 pts
Jump Pack
Power Fist

I was just discussing this morning with someone about the idea of dropping the ironclad in turn one. I was hesitant because we couldn't think of anything cheap (and not a waste of space) to put in the necessary 3rd drop pod, and I didn't like the idea of swapping out a razorback for it. However in 2k:

drop pod for Ironclad: 35pts
5x Man Assault Squad - 90 pts
1x Flamer
in FREE Drop Pod
10x Man Assault Squad - 205 pts
2x Flamers, Power Fist
6 man Tactical Squad: Flamer: 89pts
In a Razorback: Assault Cannon and storm bolter: 80pts
