Seeing as how we finally have the Iguana I decided to put together an Iguana list for my Haqqislam.

What do you think about it?

Haqqislam - Qapu Khalqi | 10 models
________________________________________________________

Iguana (73|2)
Odalisque Haris (26|1)
Odalisque Smg (25|0)
Odalisque Shotgun (24|0)
Kaplan Spitfire (29|1)
Kaplan Doctor (28|0)
Kaplan Eng A (27|0)
Hafza Lt+Spitf (23|1)
Hafza Rifle (17|0)
Alguacil Hacker (22|0.5)

Nasmat (3|0)

There's a lot I can change, as the only painted models I have for this list are the Kaplans and some Hafza.

For extra awesomeness try and fit the Spitfire Odalisque into the Harris team! ive been looking at running a 'double link' list for my QK as well, I think it would make a nasty combination

That won't be easy - he'll need to drop 6 points and 0.5 SWC from somewhere. The only source of 0.5SWC that can be dropped is the hacker, but it's never good taking a TAG out without one just in case.

I'd say Odalisques are pretty fine without the Spitfire in that list. They're tough enough to get gak done without one, and the list isn't exactly lacking firepower.

Well you don't really need two spitfires in the one link team (kaplan and hafza) there is 6|1 right there

Can I ask a dumb question? As someone new to infinity, are you always able to take allies like this from factions that aren't your primary?

QK is allowed to take allies like the Kaplans and the Nomands (Specific units only) because they come under the QK Sectorial. Generally in friendly games and Campaign Paradiso, you are allowed to take mercenaries in any list (Paradiso has some fluff restrictions)

The only times you are explicitly not allowed to take mercenaries is in ITS tournaments

It's not in Paradiso, it's just that is allowed as standard for Qapu Khalki..

Qapu Khalki is the Naval armed forces of Haqqislam, and they supplement their forces with Nomad Corregidor mercanary forces, as well as some plain old normal mercenary forces.

They can take Alguaciles, Mobile Brigada and the Iguana from the Corregidor list and Druze Shock Teams, Kaplan Tactical Services, Scarface and Cordelia and Yuan Yuan pirates in their standard army list.

It's not allies, those units just become part of the standard army list for the Qapu Khalki sectorial. For this reason, QK is often used as the basis for pure Mecenary lists.

I could put a Spitfire Odalisque in the Haris, but I'm reluctant to drop the 2nd Special Weapon from the Kaplans because of 1 reason - I usually run a strong Muyib link where even if I lose the 5th dude I still have strong firepower left. Here, if I lost the Spitfire Kaplan, the link hasn't lost it's teeth since I still ahve the Hafza. Then again, the Iguana would indeed be the major order sink and the Kaplans should probably just stay back.

If you can wait for it, a Sekban Haris team would be a pretty good addition.

I'd wanna assemble the list and try the Iguana ASAP, haven't played with a TAG yet

I proxied the Iguana with a TAG that was at the store. I played this list, giving the Spitfire on the Hafza to the Odalisque.

I made some silly mistakes like setting my Obvious LT. as the bait, and the Iguana died on turn one due to massed smoke/Panzerfaust fire. I was playing against Morats.

That said, the Operator on that Iguana is one tough nut to crack. I kept a Nasmat remote in handy to heal him when he got damaged and he really shined throughout the match. The Odalisques didn't really rock, but the man of the match was my ADHL Kaplan - he glued the Sogorat who was duelling with my Iguana operator which gave me the match point after I killed him - we were playing YAMS and oe of my missions was to kill his most expensive unit. We were also using 12 EXP Spec Ops, so one of my Hafzas had a Viral Sniper.

I'll mess around with the list, maybe drop a Sekban Haris instead of the Odalisques as that would give me a not so obvious LT.

All in all, Iguana's fun. I don't consider myself a TAG virgin anymore.

Played a second match with the same list because my tablet ran out of power. We were playing the Seize the Beacons ITS mission.

Got first turn and a nice reserve setup for the Iguana. Went forward with the Iguana catching members of his defensive team 1 by 1, killed 2. Then exchanged some shots with his Total Reaction drone, failed a wound and went back into cover.

Iguana died later on in the match while moving forward to act as a Repeater for a Hacker trying to immobilize the Sogorat. In the end, he was killed by reactive fire crits and I never managed to hack anything, missing out on the Secret Objective.

I think the Kaplan Link team is a very good objective grabber, but it was the Al Waziri who used the consoles and put up the antenna in the end.

All in all, I'm happy with this list, I could try swapping the Kaplans for Djanbazans due to MSV2, but only if we were not playing an ITS objective mission.
