So the SM codex dropped recently, and I think everyone is aware by now that it certainly isn't a meta shifter the way eldar and tau were.

My question is, has anyone else noticed that there are not many posts suggesting using the space marine dex to represent chaos legions since its release?
Does this mean all the anti-csm people claiming we wanted more power were right?
Or did chaos players just learn to keep it to themselves?

You haven't seen many posts telling you to use the marine codex for CSM? Oh dear...

Seriously, depending on which Legion/warband you want, the SM codex offers a better degree of customisation, in the form of chapter traits.

Also, it could be because I'm tired, but your penultimate sentence doesn't really make sense to me.

EDIT: Found it! It was only a few threads down in this very forum...

See, you're trying to use people logic. DM uses Mandelogic, which we've established has 2+2=quack. - Aerethan

I should really paint some of my models instead of browsing forums.

This thread is still on the front page of the 40k board:

It's thankfully not as prevalent as it was with the last codex.

That's 1, and the only one I've seen since the dex released. It's also...2 pages? And the same thread as the other guy posted

Compared to the 12+ page thread here pre codex release, the 51 page thread on warseer, several 5+ page threads on bolter and chain sword...?
Yes, I haven't seem many since the codex drop. If anything, seeing one small thread posted twice just reinforces my statement

Penultimate sentence?
Re-read it all, everything is grammatically correct...

I think most CSM are just broken down at this point. I know I am, I'm just hoping my supplement actually fixes things.

It could also have to do with the good things in the marine book are not ones that a normal CSM player will have.

If your trying to get an edge by switching to the newest book the things you would use are mass bike units with grav guns, command squad with grav guns, centurions, new AA tanks, thunderfire cannons, stormtalons, stormravens.

None of these are things a normal CSM player would have.

OP, ask yourself if Iron Warriors are better represented by Iron Hands with IG allies (as battle brothers), or CSM with non-battle brother IG allies. Are Night Lords better suited with CSM, or as White Scars with their Hit and Run chapter tactics? Or Alpha Legion as Raven Guard, with their renowned emphasis on stealth and infiltration giving all their models scouts, and 1st turn stealth? Raven Guard would also be a good fit for Night Lords with the stealth/scouts/jump pack shenanigans.

Iron Warriors are the ones I"m most familiar with, but the 6+ FNP due to bionics fits the Iron Warriors well, as does their emphasis on vehicles. Having battle brother IG allies is a great way to get their basilisks or other siege gear and vehicles.

Damn straight I'm going to look at Iron Hands-Iron Warriors... as soon as Army Builder updates so I can play with lists ; )

Wouldn't iron warriors be better as IF with their emthasis on anti-vehicle/buildings?

Actually Iron Warriors have been known to replace mutated tissue with bionics........ Sounds like the Iron Hands to me.

But yes, after wanting to be able to bring a legion list to the table, I was upset when I saw it was going to be ignored. And even more upset when I saw that C:SM had the option to pick a founding chapter tactic.

Bringing a Heldrake to the table does not counter this, regardless of what some people say. I didn't want to bring a cheese machine to the table, I wanted to actually play as a legion. And I haven't got enough organs to sell to be able to play FW Horus Heresy.

That's why I made a unit of techno-Plague Marines! I used the Iron Hands conversion kits along with Chaos Marine bits and made a nasty squad of bionics-heavy dudes for my Iron Warriors. The Chaos codex has a lot of opportunities for counts-as stuff that people seem to overlook since it's not explicitly written in there. I'm in the minority here in that I actually like the Chaos codex though.

Oh don't get me wrong, I may complain about my codex but I do like it. I just get the feeling that the whole thing is a bit rushed or hap hazard. Such as Daemon Princes without Eternal Warrior or Warp Talons without grenades.

Since Daemons all lost EW too, that wasn't a surprise, really.

Warp Talons could use the grenades though

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts
