Hey guys. I've decided my next project will be a codex space marines army. I need some help though, I'd like to be quite fluffy, use some daemon allies and be somewhat competitive.

I'd love to do this with a slaaneshi list, but I have absolutely zero experiences with either codex. The goal would be 1500 points.

I want a heldrake, a forge fiend, and some havocs.

I guess my question is, can Slaanesh be competitive?

-Plenty of Troops for 1500pts
-FA and HS slots for The Scouring and Big Guns Never Tire missions.
-HQ is like a mini Lucius- Be sure to roll on the Personal Warlord Trait table from the main rulebook for some good combat goodies.
-Able to manage Horde, MEQ, TEQ

Cons:
-Light Anti-tank
-Light Flier defense

I love it. Thanks!!

Couldn't I just switch to hades auto cannons on the forge fiend for a bit of heavier anti tank?

I saw those new noise marine models coming out from forge world and thought I had to make some slaaneshi stuff!

You could- I don't know your local enemies, but if you expect to fight lists with 10+ terminators at 1500pts, I'd keep the Ectoplasma. If not, I suppose it'd be okay to take Hades.

I just recently Tried out a Noise Marine list because i favour Nurgle and think they are probably the most effective Mark at the moment. I tried out 2 Sorcerers with Slaanesh with 2 Master Levels 3 Squads of 10 Noise Marines with Sonic Weapons and Blast Master. and i took 4 Sqauds of 10 Man Cultists for troops and Capturing. Now this list doesnt seem very good and it requires alot of luck and well placed deployment as when i tested it out it failed miserably because im an idoit but anyways!, You really have to aim to roll Symphony of pain that spell makes your noise marines sonic weapons 2+ if both your sorcs can get it. Its not very Competitive But it is fun to see the enemies face when your shooting str 6 3 shots pm at them.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
sorry if that top part sounded confusing i ment it buy i wanted to try new things out other than just nurgle biker lists.

I got what you're saying

My opinion is that Khorne units are now at the bottom, with Slaanesh right above them.. The only reason I rate Khorne so low is because of the 6th ed Assault rules.

Slaanesh are doable, yep. The key is support, and not just Marking units for the sake of marking them Slaanesh.. Havocs and Termies for example.

I wouldn't buy the Icon of Excess unless you are running Larger Squads of 8-10 models. Because it is a static cost that gets more benefit from larger squads, its just simply not worth it on small squads. The exception to this is if you join an IC, in which case giving an HQ FnP is great.

Make sure you focus your Noise Marines to a roll. The Blast Master and the Doom Siren want to be doing very different things, so its often a waste of points to have both of them in the same squad. I have two main builds that I like to do

(192) 6 Noise Marines- 5 Additional CCW, Doom Siren, Power Weapon : Rhino- Combi Melta
(201) 6 Noise Marines- 4 Sonic Blasters, Blast Master : Rhino- Havoc Launcher
The other popular option is
(270) 10 Noise Marines- 2 Blast Masters, Icon of Excess

The squad with the Doom Siren is a close range support squad, it drives close to the enemy and drop Siren Templates and rapid fire bolters on them. With solid overwatch and a power weapon if they get charged. They prefer to fire the Doom Siren out the Rhino hatch where possible.
The squad with blasters on the other hand wants to move to midfield and unload with their salvo bolters.
Finally, the big squad takes advantage of FnP with 10 bodies, and provides fire support by dropping 2 Blast Master shots per turn.

Slaanesh is very good right now. Icon of excess is powerful, and Noise Marines provide great fire power per cost. Slaanesh isn't quite as powerful as Nurgle but is right behind him in terms of power curve. So to answer your question- almost as competitive as Nurgle. The real issue is the demons, where Slaanesh Demons don't seem nearly as good as the Nurgle ones.

You can't beat the Daemonette cost for Weapon Skill and Rending, though. Not Plaguebearers I know, but certainly great in large units.
