i keep hearing around my area that Space wolves can not touch any of the stuff in the new space marine codex. though technically they are space marines and i hear that some players have the 6th Edition codex, the Space marine codex, then their respective chapter codex and were able to use everything related to vanilla space marines.

So can Space Wolves use the space marine codex equipment.? For example the Storm raven gunship that every vanilla chapter has access to now.

are you asking if Space Wolves are in the new Space Marine codex? no, they are not. If you arw using the SW codex, you can use what's in the codex and Death from the Skies (flyer supplement).

You misread his post, so I will try to summarize it:
-You can not use the Codex: Space Marine-units/upgrades/rules.
-You can not take any of the new things.
-You can not take a Stormraven Gunship.
-You can take things from the Space Wolves codex.
-You can take things from 'supplements'.
-The Codex: Space Marines is not a supplement.
-'Death from the Skies'-book does not give you a Stormraven Gunship.

To add some more on it:
Space Wolves are not Space Marines, they don't follow their codex.
So what we have are: Space Marines, Space Wolves, Blood Angels, Dark Angels and Grey Knights.
Most Chapters are thrown together in the C:SM because they are the same.
The other four have their own Codex because they don't follow the Codex Astartes.
This should be a good read for you: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Codex_Astartes

You don't get a Stormraven because GW probably has some ungodly hideous flier in the works for you.

It will use some variation of the word "wolf" in it's name no less than three times.

Space Wolves and C:SM are two entirely separate armies. Asking if you can take a Stormraven in your SW army makes about as much sense as asking if you can take a Riptide in your Tyranid army.

Space Wolf models, on the other hand, can be used to play a C:SM army as long as all of the equipment is WYSIWYG. Power armor and a bolter is power armor and a bolter no matter how they're painted. But note that you're just playing the Ultrawolves chapter using the C:SM rules, not using a mix of codices to creat your army.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

They're not getting it because they haven't been updated. Buy an Aegis Defense Line.

I have an idea that's probably not fluffy, but maybe works on the table:
Make a vanilla CSM chapter and take a generic SM commander or chapter master, get some nice warlord traits for him, a retinue, some troops, stormtalon, devastator with flakk missile, etc.

Than ally with Space Wolves for 2 Rune Priests and GH troops.

In total I will have an army that uses Space Wolves models, is painted like Space Wolves, and gets the benefits of the newest CSM codex.
What do you think?

You know its going to be a wolf fighter/bomber, with twin-linked wolf cannons and air to ground wolf launchers.
I can see the wolves also getting some new skyfire unit too - the Wolfapult.

I really hope they keep space wolves away from fliers but give them something that compensates for it. I dont want a flyer and i dont want a stupid oval base release ala "da big bear wolf".

Worst case would be printing the stormraven profile into the codex and be done with it. I really hope they have something original in the making instead.

I can't see them not having a new flier.
Every army thats been re-done has had access to fliers - they will get them.

My only hopes are that

A)It doesn't follow the awful naming convention. Which its going to.
B)It actually does what its supposed to - its not some confused plane that claims to be a fighter thats only good at shooting ground targets, or a psychic plane which can't do anything for a turn when it arrives.

They'd have to change the fluff for that dont they. In my world space wolves have to fight on foot how russ wanted them to. But you are probably right sadly.

Wolves are fine with planes - theres nothing in the fluff which says they don't use them.
They definitely deploy by thunderhawk - cos otherwise how would they get down a planet (They hate teleporting but will in times of great need)
Grey Hunters pilot the planes.

They don't like Jump packs - which is why they make the more troublesome Blood claws wear them (which is where the 'fighting with both feet on the floor as Russ intended' quote came from) and they don't like teleporting.

I don't think they'll get the raven or the talon as death from the skies would've been a good time to dish them out - but GW didn't.
That makes me think a new flier is in the works - unless GW change the fluff and go with the 'no flight' angle.

Eh I wouldn't use them anyway, you're going to be looking at 40pts per Long Fang if you want Flakk Missiles... and they're not even that great at shooting down the peskiest flyers to begin with.

Search your feelings, you know this to be true.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

I think they will get a Storm Wolf. A wolfified version of the Storm Raven, like DAs got their darkified version of the Talon. Whatever they do,
the outcome can only be looking better than the Raven

What do you think?

Consider this; a grav gun is concussive, which reduces a models initiative stat to 1. Jaws of the World Wolf removes models from the table if they fail an initiative test. 1 wound on a riptide, wraithknight, tervigon, etc means dead riptide, wraithknight, tervigon, etc.
