Can't speak to this particular set of paints, but white over black primer almost never goes well. I would paint over the black areas in a coat of grey then put white over that. A little more work but it should make the end result look better.

Also, if most of the surface area of a model will be white I would actually suggest just base coating in white to begin with.
If its only small areas paint over the black with grey and then multiple thin layers of white paint. Otherwise the black will be visible through the white and leave streaks.

Everything above is correct.
I'd also recommend priming with a neutral color like grey. It gives you the option of going darker or lighter in your color scheme, and later you can start to play with preshading and other fun techniques.

Of course, if you prime black you never have to worry about missing a bit of the model and having gray staring you in the face, since it's just an intentional black shadow (although buying a black ink wash kinda fixes it. I swear that GW black ink was the best paint purchase I've ever made).

If I am painting something like white power armor I generally base coat black and work my way through 2-3 greys before I get to white and let that be the shading. Though blank ink can workas well or, better yet, in conjunction.

VMC sky grey has some great coverage for a white[ish] paint.

Also, pure stark white rarely looks good as a base color. It looks best with some off-white shading.

White on small details or areas with black basecoat is not a problem. Also if you dry the white paint on the brush it also covers well. Only problem with white is for covering larger areas.
