Autarch: jetbike, mantle, shard of Anaris, banshee mask, fusion gun, phoenix gem.
Eldrad

2x 10 guardians
In wave serpent w brightlance, holo, vectored engines

2x 3 jetbikes w 1 cannon

10 warp spiders w exarch: spinneret rifle, fast shot

3 shadow weavers
3x dual blance walkers
3x dual scatter walkers

The idea is a solid fire base provided by the war walkers and the shadow weaver buff battery (eldrad goes in that unit) the warp spiders provide disruption for flanks along with the nasty little autarch. The wave serpents and guardians provide a mobile anvil to the disruptive hammer. Eldrad will go for guide, prescience and then two rolls on telepathy hoping for any number of powers that could be obscenely useful to this unit.

- Eldrad
+farseer

-all the war walkers
+ 2x 3 war walkers with scatter laser/ lance

-all the spinners
+ 3 fire prisms

Almost the same list with some tweaks. And 3 fire prisms is really cool.

Eldrad brings to many extra abilities to drop from the list. His warlord trait and deployment trick will be invaluable to how I intend this list to play.

At 1750 I don't have the force org chart to play with, and fire prisms cost a fair bit more than 30 points per. The 3 shadow weavers are in a vauls wrath battery. 3 artillary pieces that are toughness 7 armor 3+? For 30 points?!! Yes plox!!! Let's not forget that the entire idea is to have a mobile fire base around which my army pivots.

Thanks for your input!!

Executing Exarch

The Twilight Zone

In the Iyanden book it states that a character can select from either remnants of glory of gifts of Asuryan. No double dipping, which sadly means tossing the soulshrive or mantle. I would keep the mantle, as the defense is more valuable, despite how totally kickass the shrive is.

You get a cookie for running serpents without scatter lasers. TL brightlance is still useful, even thought the TL scatter laser is the ZOMG better tournament winmax option. That said, I think your AT is probably covered well enough to switch out one lance here to a scatter. Alternatively, give both guardian squads shuricannons to round out your dakka. Vectored engines are by no means required, but certainly useful.

I am personally not a fan of the spinnerette rifle, but if your into that kind of thing by all means keep it.

Eldrad(or any seer) with support batteries is a great combo. Right up there with bacon and eggs. However, don't be so quick to guide/prescience/telepathy. Guide is nice, but if you can get fortune then your really in business. Well worth it to at least roll on the table and see what happens. I also usually advocate going for doom, but I can understand if your going to be in the backfield then you may not want it. On divination, forwarning(4++) and perfect timing(ignore cover) are also worth looking at depending on your opponent. No harm in trying. I know you want invisibility out of telepathy, and maybe the fearless one too. Psychic shriek is also one of the best offensive powers, and handy in case trouble shows up in the backfield, but the maledictions suffer the same short range issue doom does. Therefore it is even more worth your while to try and roll something good from runes of fate/div, and defalut when you get garbage(death mission ). I also like to give props for the use of Eldrad. Tougher warlord, and stealth for early game to protect the flock, or if nothing else the batteries. Since they live and die by placement, that redeploy will serve you well.

Now, if you drop the shrieve and downgrade the guardian lance to a shuricannon, you have enough points to shoe in a warlock for the support batteries. Conceal on your batteries parked in cover! Now your talking hard to kill! Here, go ahead and roll to try and get protect for 2+ armor on your guns. Makes the world of difference against things like drakes. This does leave your autarch without a CC weapon, but you have enough points(by my quick math) to get him a chainsword. Not pretty, but it gives +1 S and 2 weapons for CC. Nothing that will wreck shop but it is effective. Alternatively, swap the fusion gun for a laser lance. The lance is OK when shot at tanks, and has good CC on the charge. Still take the chainsword for the 2nd round of combat(as your lance will have lost its mojo), then hit and run. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I hope this is more constructive and useful than just Drop X, Replace with Y, spam.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

As always Serling, your comments are always uplifting, thought provoking and welcome!

The main reason I want to run the brightlance is because of the str of the shot. The reason for the vectored thrusters is to happily allow for the rotation and expulsion of the short range guardians, giving them further range while still being able to fire to full effect and then pivot around to avoid presenting rear armor, as I'm sure you are aware. I unfortunately don't have the points that I'm willing to shift to in order to give the guardians a shurrican cannon.

The spinneret rifle is plain abussive with 2 str 6ap1 shots at 18", three at 9" and at bs 5

Thanks for the open mind about the psychic disciplines. I had every intent of being flexible like that until I realised that at our tourney you roll for your powers once, prior to game one. Then you keep those for the duration of the event. I really enjoy using eldrad and as I said earlier just feel he brings so much to the table that he is easily worth his cost.

Now as far as making the wrath battery harder to kill, I cannot see that unit drawing that much fire anyway, so dedicating more points to that effect seems superfluous.

Now as to the autarch, thank you for pointing that out, I rejigged my list by dropping the hwp's on the guardians

And gave the autarch the following loadout. Jetbike, fusion gun, phoenix gem (really liking the idea of jamming this bad boy down a flank now XD) banshee mask, mantle of the laughing god, shard of Anaris. This makes him a terror. In challenges he's stout, and outside of them he has hit and run. Extremely versatile!!!

So what you think now?

I love finding other people you step away from the norm and do unconventional list, I play mix of footdar and mechdar. The bonus to unconventional is that at most tournaments players only plan for the spam lists or the most common lists seen on Dakka and other forums, which give you an edge. i do have to agree with what was said about Eldrad.

Last codex I Used Eldrad relegiously, he was worth every penny. this version is just as great, however a normal farseer is by far better than they were before. At 100 points he is so cost effective with 3 powers, while Eldrad is 205 with 4 powers. Sure he get a few other things but how often do they get used? I only use regular farseers in this codex and I still hold undeafeted in one on one games since it came out. That status might change this week, I have 2 games scheduled with some tough lists which are the perfect counter to eldar. Ork Green Tide 20 Lootas, and a Drop pod sternguard heavy flamers and meltas list. Ouch

Other than Eldrad your first list is excellent, if your support weapon batteries have interchangable weapons have you considered Vibro cannons? I love mine when guided they are 9 out of 10 shooting phases, 3 hits str 9 ap 2. When considering that, they could free up some points that you sank into warwalkers for a cheaper fire prism which provides a higher AP pie plate, although allowing cover saves.

not saying you have to or should do anything i say just tossing ideas at ya

I'd like to know how your list performed after you test it out

Agreed on all counts rune stonegrinder

In this case, as far as the other traits eldrad possesses, makes him exactly what I need. It allows for key redeploys preventing los to vital units, suprise pressure where my opponent wasn't expecting etc... To good to lose imho.

I considered vibro cannons for about 3 seconds. Three str 6 barrage blasts with rending and +1 str for targets with <3 init is obscene, range 48" is even better. XD. You just can't top that even with 3 fire prisms.

I also don't own a fireprism that isn't in 3 pieces XD.

Thanks for the c&c and kind words :-)

Well Ill tell you that last night I got a game in with my good friend Gary, against his typhus zombie spam, 2 flamer drakes, and one auto cannon drake, forge fiend, 2x3 nurgle obliterators and as many zombies as he could fit in the list.

By the end of the game, he had one squad of zombies, and typhus left on the field. I believe the game type was the scourging (what ever the mission is where you have 6 objectives with random values) And I held 3 objectives to his 1, had line breaker, and he had first blood. This list performed exceptionally well in my opinion. I made some errors that made it more of an uphill struggle than this game needed to be. For example, I left my walkers out in the open, deployed, instead of in reserves where they would have entered play on a 2+, but as it was the poor things took quite the beating. Both our luck swung wildly this game, but it ended up a resounding victory my 11 vps' to Gary's 3

Ok. your right about eldrad farseer. farseer with bike, spiritsone of analathen > eldrad. its cheaper, and lets you put out equal to if not more spyckic powers a turn.

your point about war walkers...... absolotuly not. no. not on any planet, any game. thakabalpuphorsefishguy has it right. SL + BL combo doesnt work nearly as well as a single weapon per squad. you have a mixed role if you go for the SL and BL. completly different roles.

point about fire prisms, you under stand that he only has 3 heavy suport options right.... so he cant take 2 squads of WW, and 3 fire psrims. so its better s he has it now. although thakabalpuphorsefishguy it would be very benifitual for an agies line for all of those walkers and shadow weavers.

So another resounding success to report for this list.

Yesterday against my friend everett and his nids

2x dakka flyrants

Doom in pod
20 devigaunts in pod
2 tervigons
Min gaunt squad
20 Gargoyles
5 ravenors
2 Venomthropes

And some upgrades that I cannot recall

I brutalized that list.

First turn I shot down one hive tyrant and killed it. I was hoping to bait my friend in to shoving his other tyrant at my warp spiders to repay them for killing his brother.

He took the bait, landed the tyrant and after shooting the podded devigaunts and the dakkatyrant at the spiders, charged the survivors. He got his kill point and his revenge.

My autarch took advantage and in one charge, obliterated the last tyrant, gaining a killpoint and slay the warlord.

He went on to smash a tervigon and a ton of gaunts.

This list performed beautifully in every way I designed it to. I'm really looking forward to taking it out for more games :-)
