Ive recently come into a small army of necron Warriors and the older metal Immortals, and the previous owner had painted them haphazardly at best. (The warriors look like they had been dipped in a thick vat of paint)

So another friend and myself sat them and old steel legion troops in a couple vats of Mean Green to take off the paint and start over clean.

At this point all the minis have been in the bath for close to 12 hours, vith completely varying degrees of progress.

The steel legion is about how I expected them to be, most of the paint falling away with a buffing from the toothbrush. My assorted necron troops are not fairing as well at all. The paint still clinging on with all it's abhorrent might.

We both got the armies from the same person, and I know for a fact he was too cheap for any kind of sealant. This leads me to think the unfortunate Necrons got a blast from a spray-paint can. But its impossible for me to find out what exactly they have been painted with, as thhey have been left to us in our friends passing

Are there some paints like this that Mean Green just can't deal with, or is this just something I should leave soak tell Sunday? Or has my friend simply cused me to watch me struggle? (Knowing him, highly likely...lol)
Any advice, or plan B ideas, or the number for an exorcist would be wonderful thanks.

I tend to leave mine in a jar of Dettol (the UK equivelant I think) for roughly a week. Some colours seem to remove easier than others (yellow and silver seem tough) from the stuff I painted when young. The longer they are in the easier it is to remove the paint for me.

Let it sit. I have found also that spray cans tend to hold onto the minis with all their might...I've found that especially true with TAP spray primers.

Well thank you both for the input, was worried I might have needed to get paint thinner or something.

Primers will tend to stick really hard to plastics or at least stain them.

I don't know about mean green but Purple power works very well and so does dawn power desolver apparently.

Edit: Also if you have spare bases FOR METAL AND METAL ONLY! you can use acetone. it will remove ALL paint very quickly. do it to plastic though and you will get soup.

Fairy Power Spray (UK), Dawn power Dissolver (USA)

This gives me the best results without being overly stinky or hazardous to skin, altho I still would wear gloves.
(dettol has quite the pungent aroma that lingers for a while)

Simply spray a model with it, wait 15-30minutes and scrub with an old toothbtush (or similar) and rinse in water. Repeat for particularly stubborn ones.

'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!
