I am interested in assembling and painting up some prop weapons, maybe a Space Marine helmet, but unfortunately lack the space and means to actually build one from scratch. I've done some looking but haven't found anything out there. Does anyone here know where one might be able to buy a kit for say, a bolter or bolt pistol?

I haven't heard of any aftermarket kits to do that sort of thing, but I know some people do build prop weapons and the like on commission. The thing I see turned into bolt pistols the most are Nerf Maverick revolvers, since the grip looks almost exactly like the grip of a bolt pistol.

Here's a great blog post going over how a guy built a bolt pistol for the Ultramarines movie booth at comic-con, so I think at the very least it'll give you an idea of what goes into building these things:

Anybody selling exact replica kits is risking a C&D from GW Legal, for good reason Rose & Boltshell always put "we do not accept commissions". Your best bet would be to find somebody who takes on all sorts of cosplay builds and on the quiet getting them to build you what you want.

I have read this, it is an awesome build. I also just watched the video for Tested that this guy did on building them a Needler. He does sell kits for things, unfortunately not anything resembling 40k.

I figure that's what I'd be best doing too, since I don't see any companies doing similar weapons. Ideally, I'd want something resembling the basic shape, with no details or copyrighted emblems and such. I found that there was one guy that had built one, and would sell as kits, but that was years ago. I'd love to do one up myself, especially one based on the Nerf guns, if I had the tools. I'll have to search around and see if I can find anyone doing current cosplay builds. Hopefully I can find something.
