So I build my army On what I like the look of

Its a massive downfall but if I don't like it I just can't paint it.

So here's my idea

I love maugan ra as a model I like the fluff and imo as a Phoenix Lord probably the best

I love harlequins

So hq Mr ra into a squad of harls with a death jester and a shadow seer,

Mr ra and his 5 shots at 36 inches pinning
Death jester blasting away 24 inches 3 shot pinning
Shadow seer pumping its veil to hinder return fire
And the harls just meat shields unless close combat where they can chew up bad guys lol

Throw in a skyleaping squad of hawks

Who are you gonna try to stop first the dive bombers who just won't die or the big fella you just can't get to

Those are some very expensive S6 shots you paid for there.

Fair enough build a list you want to play, just don't expect this one to be particularly competitive.

8,000 pts and counting
1,000 points, now painting.

The Twilight Zone

This was a particularly effective tactic back in the day(4th and 5th edition. Minimum harlequin squad with a jester&shadowseer, maybe some kisses. The unit would always be at max range against enemies who would have to roll to spot the unit, and rarely hit. It was also very strong in CC.

Now, the combo is still viable, but suffers heavily from having to cast the veil. If you lose the shadowseer, the unit is toast. If you don't go first and your opponent puts some heavy fire their way, they are also toast.

Your saying your hawks wont die...which is far from true. Since you cant yo-yo skyleap anymore, they will die if they are targeted. Not to say they are bad, but they are fragile and against some armies a mere annoyance.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

This issue can still be dealt with, however. If you take an allied contingent of Dark Eldar and take a vehicle with the "Grisly Trophies" upgrade, this allows the Shadowseer (and any other Eldar psyker) to re-roll her psychic test for Veil, turning your 1/9 chance to fail the test into a 1/18.

Yo yoing sky leap was great but being able to enter grenade pack attack then move should mean you are putting your hawks in mop up positions. The idea hasn't really changed just how you achieve it.

I like I lldar because each squad individually not a massive threat. But when combined become a force to be reckoned with.

Take advantage of pinning drop sh on squad clean up move to safety. Or even better prepare to clean up for another battle front so your other squads can open a new theatre of war.

Thanks for the DE advice I really like the idea and it seems like such a simple fix. And will work great with over priced hemlock

Why don't you just take Farsight Enclave allies, get O'vesa and put her in the Harly unit? If you do manage to fail your power, you can then just roll for 3++ on O'vesa, if they pass (and you don't think anything will ignore your saves that can actually pass the LD check) you can just nova for OP gun or ripplefire. Sounds like a decent combo to me.

Yeah, telling people how this and that is 'garbage' and they should just throw their minis into the trash as they're not as efficient as XYZ.

so, your paying that many points for 8 shots at s 6.....
heres an ideea....

get a waveserpent instead.
now your getting 10+ shots a turn at S6-7. for cheaper.

and what does the hawks have anything do do with anything? seams kind of out of place, as is your question about who i would shoot first. the "dive bombers who just wont die" or mr ras squad.
hawks are very easily killed.

Careful giving advice like this. To take o'vesa, farsight must be your warlord which means primary detachment only.
