I remember back when I used to play in 3rd Ed, my friends and I used to use a program called Army Builder (http://www.wolflair.com/index.php?context=army_builder) to help make lists as it made them faster to calculate and also helped point out illegal lists/builds. Does anyone still use it, is it still a good investment of £25.00 for a year and also are there any better alternatives out there?

Thanks for any information!

But a lot less user friendly than Army Builder, and a lot harder to just pick up and use.

Due to the number of games I play, and the size of my collections, AB is still the best choice for me, but if you want to take the time to learn it and make your own roster files, Battlescribe is pretty good.

Army builder changed their pricing recently (a few months ago). You now pay once for the license. No renewals necessary each years to maintain support.

BTW, I use Quartermaster, Battlescribe and armybuilder. My favorite of the 3 is Army builder since its the most complete software with a very good presentation and army printout.

With that said, I use battlescribe and quartermaster more than Army builder as I am mostly building my lists on my phone or on my iPad. So I usuall thinker on these mobile devices and when I am ready to print out the list, I transcribe everything in army builder for the detailed printout with usually no errors in points.

So, you could really be fine with Battlescribe if you are low on budget. The desktop version is really nice and I also use it at the office on my diner breaks.
If you are on an iDevice I would suggest quartermaster more than battlescribe since they never made a version of BS with native iPad resolution. You thus endup with a battle scribe for iPhone format on the iPad.
