I bought BF3 back at launch and I play it off and on. I was able to get my hands on a wired 360 control at Walmart for my pc. I was told its easier to use to fly the aircraft since I'm garbage with a mouse and keyboard.

I cant seem to play though. I can log in and get in a game but four steps in I get kicked by some punk buster thing thats not eve part of the game. It looks like some third party add on but I cant seem to play without it. Is this legit or am 8 being phished?

It doesn't make since if its legit should it just be an auto update through orgin or ea?

Do console's have to deal with this type of manual update too or is it automated for them? Will this be a problem for BF4 aswell? I'm not super computer savy so I try to avoid this type of thing if I can so I don't ruin my pc. I might just get the new BF for ps4 instead.

Punkbuster is legitimate. It is an add-on/requirement for some PC games as it is updated pretty constantly with the commonly found cheats/third party programs that people use to ruin games for others.

Consoles don't have to deal with PB, but we do have to deal with some glitches/hacks that aren't found in the PC version or that get patched out.

punkbuster is legit, is an anti-cheating software that's included and required in order to play battlefield 3, it comes with the game. so if its kicking you, your cheating.

Well, this just gave me a massive deja vu.

Other then that, never heard about BF3 using any third party software to log in other then origin though to be fair, haven't touched it in ages.

Also, for the love of god check your spelling, that post gives me headaches.

I know I'm not cheating so thats not it. Its strange, but I don't remember even installing it unless it did when I installed the game.

yes it installs with bf3, but yeah, check if it works without the controller, if it still doesn't, then see what software you run when you play bf3.

Figured it out. Something was wrong with the punkbuster program and it wasn't auto updating.

Punkbuster can be a bit overzealous at times. I remember when I played 1942 it would act up when certain programs were left running on my desktop.

Well I play on xbox, so I don't know about this problem .

I'm mainly trying to practice before battlefield 4. Not sure if I want it for pc or console.

If you have the chance to play on PC, do it! Console only supports 12v12 while PC supports 32v32 which makes the whole experience so much better.the maps are sometimes 2x as big and font even get me started on the graphics difference!
