I picked up this Cobra helicopter kit at a thrift shop for $10 without looking at the scale because why not. My IG "army," as seen in my signature, is heavy on conversions so I figured if it's big it'd be a Valkyrie, if it's small it'd be a Vulture. Turns out it's 1:32 scale which is REALLY big compared to the ones I have been using!

So now I am stuck trying to figure out how to use it. As you can see from the picture below, it's got a good 17" hull length, and the rotors will make its "width" about 16" across, making it nearly as large as the B-17 I plan to use as a Marauder bomber. So what do you guys think I could use it for? It's been a while since I cracked open the Imperial Armour books, are there any large flying transports or gunships that aren't Tau or specifically Space Marine? Or should I just strap a bunch of heavy weapons and ordnance to it and call it another Marauder?

Praise be to the Omnissiah

IG/"Legion of the Damned" - 5000 points (Cripes, when did that happen?)

Vampire Counts: 1000 points? Maybe? Either way... Welcome to the Jungle

Chop it a bit, and make it an Argus Lighter.
Ad lot' s and make it a Vulture or a Valkyrie.

Heck, if you want to make a B-17 into a Marauder, why not modify the heck out of this to????

Awesome find! I think terrain is the way to go for sure. If you want to make vehicles from scale models I would suggest 1/72 scale. Most of the jet kits are quite big in 72 scale and I'd suggest those for building warhammer models. Here are a few to compare size.

The two smaller aircraft are 1/72 and the larger is 1/32. 1/48 would be too large I think.

You can go through and chop/section this snag some bits and bobs from other kits and make it into a Marauder type variant. Sort of steal concepts from the aircraft in Avatar and marry them to the Marauder's purpose.

It wouldnt mesh well with standadd GW aestetic where it looks like they prototype using LEGOs or cinder blocks, but depending on how you handle other aircraft, you can make it work.

Otherwise, just have some fun with it and not worry about making it work with 40K. I used a similiar (possibly the same) model to create a drop ship for figures that were more along the lines of Infinity. Depending on the game we are playing, sometimes it is used as a vehicle, sometimes it is the deployment zone for one side and sometimes it is the objective for a game (extraction).

If you enjoy converting, switching styles and gaining the freedom of not being attached to a specific game system can be a welcome change.
