Hey guys I finally got all my supplies to base my miniatures, and I wanted to know how everyone thinks they turned out. What I did was first glue on some GW sand that I got for free (couldn't see myself paying for dirt). Then I painted all the dirt in mountfang brown, and gave it a heavy(probably too heavy since it knocked off some of my larger rocks) wash of agrax earthshade. I then did a 75/25 mix of ceremite white, and mournfang brown and dry brushed that on followed by a lighter drybrush of ushabti bone. Then I applied wasteland tufts from the army painter. Anyway, tell me what you think please guys!

Thanks in advance!

Not bad for a first attempt!

To prevent sand from coming off, coat it with a watered down layer of white glue and let it fully dry. Make sure you prime the base as well before you paint it. I prefer black base rims, but whatever color you choose to paint them make sure you get good coverage on it.

I found liquid cement to be my favorite option for basing. paint a thin layer on the base and dip it into my sand. I then pile a little more sand up in spots I want it and drip the cement onto it until its almost overflowing off the base. It dries completely clear and none of the sand ever falls off.

I like the medium to dark brown for my base color too.
