Hi guys. Built a little 1250 point list for a for-fun upcoming game - trying for a TAC list, and it will be my first time playing the Wolves. My goal is to have a ton of boots on the ground, basically. I will join the Wolf Guard to the Grey Hunters and Long Fangs, and the Wolf Lord and Lone Wolf will make nuisances of themselves as needed. I may join the Lord to a squad. The list (revised as per last post)

***

HQ
Wolf Lord: Terminator Armour, meltabombs, power weapon

Elite
Lone Wolf: Terminator Armour, Chainfist, Storm Bolter

5 Wolf Guard: Terminator Armour for all.
*Storm Bolter, Power Weapon (Joining Squad Orange)
*Storm Bolter, Wolf Claw (Joining Squad Green)
*Storm Bolter, Powerfist (Joining Squad Grey)
*Storm Bolter, Powerfist (Joining Squad Purple)
*Assault Cannon, Powerfist (Joining Long Fangs)

Troops
10 Grey Hunters (Orange): Wolf Standard, Plasmagun x2, Plasma Pistol
10 Grey Hunters (Green): Plasmagun x2, Plasma Pistol, Mark of the Wulfen
10 Grey Hunters (Grey): Wolf Standard, Plasmagun, Melta, Plasma Pistol, Mark of the Wulfen
5 Grey Hunters (Purple): Wolf Standard, Plasmagun, Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon, Mark of the Wulfen

Heavy
3 Long Fangs (Yellow): Squad Leader with Flamer, 2x Lascannon

What do you think of it? I'm aiming for a lot of dice rolls, basically, with the plasma there because I bought a few DV sets plasma is very versatile and useful against the plethora of vehicles and 2+ saves I seem to encounter. Is this army versatile enough to take on an average list and have fun doing it? I don't expect to face an optimized Taudar list, wraithspam, 9 Wave Serpents or anything ridiculous, either. Thanks!

Looks solid enough, the plasma is great (although I'd try and get a 2x melta squad in there somewhere rather than a mix). I'd also lose the power sword, it's not that useful and would be better given to the wolf lord.

The LF are good, I'm not a fan of the flamer but that's just preference, and it does give them some close-range support.

Have you considered swapping the WL for a RP? The access to JOTWW and Storm Caller could be really helpful in this kind of list.

I'm going to have to avoid psykers, I just don't feel like dealing with the extra game mechanics. I usually use my Tyranid army and use psykers a lot, so going for a change. It's a good suggestion though, I have a magnetized Librarian that I wouldn't mind using soon...

I was thinking that I don't have much in the way of AT, so am considering the following changes:

-Wolf Lord in terminator armour, with meltabombs and power weapon

-Drop power weapon on Grey squad

-Wolf Guard in Grey squad now equipped with Power Fist rather than power weapon

-Drop HB long fangs, replace with 2x Lascannons.

Would you consider these to be good modifications? I hate proxying, so these guys are all WYSIWYG (so only one meltagun). The Lascannons are just in case I run up against some heavier tanks, or something out of reach of the plasma.

All those changes look good. The extra LC are nice as you can split fire anyway, so neither them nor the HB are wasted. The Wolf lord will be far more survivable now, and have a bit more clout. Run him with the melta GH and go tank hunting.

Wouldn't surprise me if I was off a bit. I'll check the list, but I likely dropped the mark of the wulfen on one squad as well. My opponent's army list was made in 5th ed. Army Builder so points values were 'off' on their end as well apparently.

The game was a blast, lots of fun, but I got obliterated. Ended up facing GK and Tau, on a board that was essentially bare - 1 los-blocking piece of terrain and one crashed stormraven on the board.

Tau had 36 Firewarriors, 3 crisis suits and a few upgrade characters, while Grey Knights had a Dreadknight, 5 Paladins and a Dreadnought.

I was shot to pieces. Conceded turn 3, with most of my men dead. Not surprised! Lascannons failed to hit or wound at all, plasma was out of range or dead too quickly to make a difference.

High point was when the Wolf Lord and 3 surviving Hunters routed 4 GK Terminators, beating them in combat before forcing a retreat.

I now know that I need 4-5 drop pods and a razorback. Great learning game! I did control a few objectives for a bit, but when they're out in the open...

Last minute suggestions?

Drop the Assault Cannon, replace it with a CML on that WG TDA, put it in the LF ML group, then find points for and play ONE Rune Priest for Divination (Primaris) - Prescience.

That ONE group will toss out SEVEN Twin Linked Missile Launcher shots a turn. I know it's a fun game, but you should be able to have fun too.

Do this. Love Wolves.

Oh,I like the sound of that. That's fantastic.

Looks like I'm going to get to use my converted Rune Priest next game. Perhaps I will grab them a razorback with a TL Lascannon as well, just because.
