I'm a little confused by some of the stuff in the PDF to be honest...

Is combined Squad the same rule as Imperial Guard? Because I was quite looking forward to having 2 Company Command Squads with 6 Heavy Weapons Teams each

Can I take a Bombard Strike in normal games? It uses a 7" blast!

Am I better off just going for Renegade Guardsmen using the Imperial Guard Codex? Or is it more worthwhile to take Renegades and Heretics along with Chaos Space Marine Allies?

Bombardment Strike is part of the Imperial Armour books, so as long as your opponent agrees that you can use Forge World books/products/models/whatever then, of course you can. Yes, Combined Squads are the same, but you can't take 2 CCSs with 6 Heavy Weapon teams? You'd need 2 Platoon Command Squads to have that, and 2 Infantry Squads, you can only take 1 Heavy Weapons guy per CCS/PCS.. And, to be honest, the Imperial Guard Codex is very good, with the Renegades and Guardsmen Codex it's very awkward because you can only take 1 tank, whereas with the IG it's 3 squads of 3 maximum ;D And you can take Chaos Space Marine allies on the IG Codex anyway, and they work quite well together to be honest

Each Company Command Platoon consists of 1 Company Command squad and 0-6 Heavy Weapon squads. These count as a single HQ choice on the force organisation chart when deploying, and are rolled for collectively when rolling for Reserves.

Company Command Squads are HQ Choices in this

But aren't IG and CSM Allies of Convinience whereas Renegades and CSM are Battle Brothers? Mind, now that i'm thinking about it, there isn't actually that much benefit...

In the IA book (IIRC) it's literally: You can take 1 squad of Chaos Space Marines, and they're better than regular Chaos Space Marines

Also, why not just take PCS's and have them as troops??
Aside from this, Renegades and Heretics aren't on the force chart thing, so I don't think they can ally? :S

Renegades and Heretics Armies
When using the Allies Matrix (page 113, Warhammer 40,000 rulebook), Renegades and Heretics armies are treated as Chaos Space Marine armies when both selecting allies to fight alongside them and when using them as allies for another force. The exception to this rule is that they may ally with Chaos Space Marine armies as Battle Brothers.

Ah, fair enough, but yeah, Battle Brothers doesn't do that much to be honest.. Anyway, in my opinion, just play it on the Imperial Guard codex, there's nothing wrong with a good old IG Gunline ;3 And you can make most of the models in the Renegades and Heretics FW Range work within the 'dex, either as actually what they are or proxies for other things Sorry for my lack of knowledge, it's been a long time since I read the pirated .pdf of Defenders of Vraks xD
