Hello everyone, new Canadian wargamer here. Been lurking around the site for a while and decided to join. A quick intro about myself, I am relatively new to gaming, only been playing Warmachine for around 2 months now and loving it. Also I have a few questions as I am looking into starting up an army for either Fantasy/40k or Infinity, apologies in advance if these have been asked repeatedly. First off, what is the most common amount of army points in a round of Fantasy/40k Second, do the GW games have a pay to win aspect in which its less about tactics and planning and more about the rules your units have. Finally, how much would a 50 pt army of Hordes be worth in regards to trading for a Fantasy/40k army or an Infinity army.

Hi & welcome.
Don't know much about current points values in Hordes so no advice there I'm afraid. Also don't know anything about Infinity.
WFB & 40K - I'd say about 2000 points gives you a good evening's play.
I much prefer 40K & it seems that its the most popular of the 2 (please don't throw the hate from you WHB players - I have boltguns - you have spears!!).
I play to have fun & run a Chaos SM which is mostly plague marines so not that competitive.
Some players do try to maximise the force's winning ratios by looking at the rules rather than what minis they like.
You'll find both types of player in any average club.
Good luck & have fun.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Just out of curiosity, where in Canada?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome to Dakkadakka!
I think for Warhammer 40k a common and satisfying battle would be around 1500-2000 points.
With pay to win, it really depends on the players. All the players I know collect stuff they like and think looks cool/fun, so we have very enjoyable games, while they aren't super competitive.
Sorry, not a warmahordes player, so I'm unaware of their relative points values.
