Drill a hole, glue, stick it in.

Most commercial trees have a mounting peg that you pop into a hole. Home made ones often use a wire core of sorts, or you can stick one in. Use some epoxy putty to blend it into the base, create the root flare and generally help secure it.

Agreed. May I recommend modeling polystyrene sheet instead? It's plastic so it's a lot easier to work with in general, and doesn't have the whole "gets warped and damaged" thing that MDF does.

it's not really mdf...it's more like a presswood from a wood working kit from when I was little...it's been sitting in a garage for 10-15 years....but it was a nice scource of wood...and it hasn't warped at all...so it might stand up to the test....I'm going to give it a try tomorrow, and I'll toss some pictures on here and see how it goes =)

Thanks for the help guys

MDF or plastic combined with some green stuff etc. to make a thin uneven edge would work well.

Drill a hole if you can, and put glue around it.

If you can't drill a hole, build up an area with putty/clay of some kind to give the tree stability.

I use 1/8" mdf sheets and drill holes in them to mount my trees.

best of luck!

If you want to, magnets can be used as well, if a simple peg fit isn't enough. This will let you take trees down for when the tank with the dozer blade moves through.
