I've had a Stormraven lying around semi-assembled for quite some time and I'm slowly getting around to finish it.
But I'm not liking the top turret and the air intake on the roof of the flyer, as it look more fly-worthy and aerodynamic without them.

So, if I keep the turret off of the flyer and rather mount those weapon options, say, underneath the wings or someplace to keep it looking more sleek, would I still be able to count those guns as being on a 360 degree top mounted turret?

I realize I'm cutting down the height profile of the flyer, so it would give me a minor advantage if I manage to hide it somewhere the original turret would show above a piece of terrain and the new one doesn't, but I assume that would happen very rarely and I will allow shots to be taken against me if they aim where the turret is supposed to be.

Would I be forced to use the turret guns as side sponsons instead, if I mount them on the side or in the front? I don't play alot of tournaments, so I could cry enough to let my friends allow it, but if I someday were to venture outside my friends house, how would this model be recieved?

I think you would still have to use the rules as they were intended, so if it is written into the rules that it has a 360 degree weapon then you would stick to that, no matter where you modelled it.

Yeah, the rules do specifically say that weapon placement does matter. Now, I'm sure in a friendly match that would be no harm done, but don't try to pull that mess in a tournament of any sort.

It would actually benefit the LOS of the turret to mount the weapons on the wings. The foresection of the hull blocks sone of the downward arc, as well as the height itself. There ends up being a bit of a blind spot in front./

Well, I'm planning to count the model as having a turret mounted gun for all purposes, not just when it's of an advantage to myself.
So, what if I bring the original turret to an event other than friendly playtime and ask my opponent if he wants me to bluetac it on the top or if he's able to wrap his mind around that it's still "there"?
Would regular TO's agree to this if my opponent does? I will ofc have to do this on a "per game" basis.

I personally wouldnt mind you still having the 360 arch I hate weapons on top of fliers that cant be used.

I have a TH which main gun cant see anything unless its 1 foot tall!

Trying to "imagine" where a weapon would be if it were placed where it belongs will open you up to all kinds of shenanigans.
