just a quick check on my army list, generally for playing at home or in my FLGS but maybe the odd local tournament, not expecting to be grand champion, but hoping this looks reasonable

HQ - Captain with Master-Crafted Combi-Melta, Artificer Armour, Power Sword

Troops 1 - 10 Man Tac with Vet Sergeant, Sergeant has Master Crafted Combi-Plasma and Chainsword, unit has Flamer and Heavy Bolter in a Rhino

Troops 2 - 10 Man Tac with Vet Sergeant, Sergeant has Master-Crafted Combi-Plasma and Chainsword, Unit has Flamer and Multi-Melta in a Rhino

Troops 3 - 10 Man Tac with Vet Sergeant, Sergeant has Master-Crafted Chainsword and Bolt Pistol, Unit has Flamer and Missile Launcher

Elites 1 - 5 Man Sternguard Unit Sergeant has Master-Crafted Combi Melta and POwer Sword, unit has another Combi-Melta and 3 Combi-Flamers

Elites 2 - 5 Man Terminator Squad, Sergeant has Master-Crafted Stormbolter and Power Sword, Unit has Assault Cannon in a Land Raider

Heavy Support 1 - Stalker Tank with Storm Bolter

Heavy Support 2 - 3 Man Centurion Devastator Squad, Sergeant has Twin-Linked Las and Master Crafted Missiles and Omni-Scope, other 2 are stock

comes in at 1750 on the nose, play tested a couple of times, finding the Stalker a bit of a let down in some respects, and loving the Centurions (I know people don't like how they look...but boy do they pack a punch)

playing mostly Eldar with their wonderous wave serpents, where the stalker is still useful for lots of glancing hits

any suggestions on how to make this army better?

I would drop the terminators and get some thunderfire cannons instead

thanks for the reply, I can see what you're suggesting as this will help with horde killing, but while removing my terminators would give me 450 points back (land raider is dedicated troop choice for them) I don't have the FoC spots for multiple thundercannons

I could make the land raider a dedicated transport for the centurion squad and just not put them in it, which leaves me with space for one thunderfire, and 100 points in a HQ, troop, Elite or FA spot

I quite like having the raider on the board, although it can get glanced to nothing by some armies, I play a Eldar army with 4 wave serpents, and having a tank that it impenetrable to scatter laser and shield spams is useful

having said that it got one shoted by Illic Nightspear last night (I've never played against the Char before...might need to be a bit more careful where I put very large boxes on the board)

any other suggestions?

Why dont you have vulkan in there too. I would drop the rhinos for pods too, but thats just me.

unsure on Vulkan, as he isn't much better than my current Captain, and will only effect 1 Multi-Melta and 1 Combi Melta with his twin linking, now that each Salamander character can mastercraft a weapon, and all flamers get the re-roll, I'm not sure he's as much a requirement as he used to be?

I'm off tonight to my FLGS for a match up with my sallies and wanted to show a good army without being cheesy

This'll be my first game not against friends,

Here goes:

Captain with master crafted combi melta, powers word and artificer armour

Librarian in terminator armour, lvl 2 mastery, using either pyro or bio powers

All tac squads combat squaded

Tac squad vet sergeant with mc combi plasma, unit has flamer and heavy Bolger

Tac squad vet sergeant with mc combi plasma, unit has flamer and missile launcher

Tac squad vet sergeant with bolt pistol and mc chainsword, unit has flamer and multimelta - travels in land raider

Stern guard in drop pod, 3x combi flames, 1 x combi melta and 1x mc combi melta and chainsword joined by captain

Terminator squad with assault cannon, mc storm bolter, joined by librarian, possibly deep strike onto board

Land raider

Centurion Devastator squad, sergeant has omniscope, las cannons and mc missile launcher, other two are stock

Stalker tank

Any comments before tonight would be great, I've play tested the army a couple of times, and they've done ok, I have a load of rhinos and a razerback I could add instead?

I could bring eldar allies to the field, but I'd like to try just sallies

Can't really afford anything too expensive and new, but could manage £30 if needed?
