Howdy gents and ladies, so here be my query.

How many guns can a battlesuit fire in overwatch.

Thanks

As many as it could fire in a normal shooting attack, is the easiest answer

Those saying 1, as the rules for the suits allowing them to fire 2 weapons instead of 1 only talks about the shooting phase, then dont take into account that ALL shooting restrictions, such as being only allowed to fire one weapon, *also* apply to the shooting phase only.

1 or 2 depending on how picky you are about the phrase Shooting Phase in the description of the Multi-Tracker (and the similar woridng for Monstrous Creatures and models dual welding pistols).

I am sure when a FAQ appears it will be 2 though.

This is the best answer currently IMO.

Simples, thanks, I was just trying to see if there actually was.an issue, we play it here as 1 due the there only being 1 shooting phase for the player, and the assault phase and overwatch are not "the shooting phase", hopefully an faq will be forthcoming for the rest of.you

That's not true.
Models being able to fire one weapon is under Roll to Hit - which must be part of Overwatch, et. al.
p13 wrote:To determine if the firing model has hit its target, roll a D6 for each shot that is in range. Most models only get to fire one shot, however, some weapons are capable of firing more than once, as we'll explain in more detail later.

Nothing in there limits the restriction to the shooting phase other than your assumption.

ERm, that is a restriction on weapons and how many shots they fire. IT has absolutely nothing to do with how many *weapons* the model can use.

"most models only get to...." does not say "models may only"

It does - because it's a permissive rule set, you may only fire one shot unless you have a rule saying otherwise.

Page 51: More than One Weapon

"Unless otherwise stated, if a model has more than one Shooting weapon, he must choose which one to shoot - he cannot fire both in the same Shooting phase."

rigeld, what you qouted has nothing to do with the question in hand. its the rules to how you shoot a weapon, not the rules to what weapons you get to shoot.
THAT can be found on page 51 under the title "more than one weapon"

Overwatch is a normal shooting attack resolved out of phase. The suits can all fire "an additional weapon" as part of their normal shooting. Therefore they can fire two weapons in overwatch.

No, it states "most models only get to", and talks about the rules for weapons telling you differently - it does not state how many weapons you may use when determining how many shots you get. That is why you have the entirely different rule under page 51. That rule is only limited to the shooting phase

I havea bolter, at times I fire two shots - because the weapon states you can.

This is not for debate here

Actually it is - Rigeld is claiming there is a rule, not tied to the shooting phase, that limits the number of shots you can fire. This, by extension, would limit the number of shots you fire in overwatch.
