Seraphim Legion....Seraphim are Angels (Space Marines) and guard God (God-Emperor) in the old bible. Basically, able to make any Space Marine army from any Codex I want and not be restricted to a certain color, army type, special characters, or tatics! A completely win-win situation for me The Seraphom Legion do not follow the regular doctine that Gulliman wrote but instead specialize in a certain combat style and each Company is lead by a Lord. Presently, there are four companies and four Lords....

I have a General (Company Master) who has had to specialize and master all of the four companies under his control. Additionally, General Marcus can lead any of these four companies in the fashion of their combat style and should be loaded out in their particular armour. Here are the four companies under General Marcus's control....

Strike Force - Drop Pod Assault w/Tacticals & Sternguard
- Leader is Lord Malik (Vulkan) (Salamanders & Space Wolves)

The Ironwing - Mobile Warfare w/Bikes, Land Speeders, and Aerial Combat
- Leader is Lord Theoden (Khan or Bike Captain) (White Scars & Ravenwing)

Storm Guard - Heavy Support w/Terminators, Armor, & Devstators
- Leader is Lord ??? (???, Belial, or Logan) (Iron Hands, Deathwing, or Wolf Guard)

Shadow Warriors - Jump Speciality w/Sang Guard, Assault Marines, & Vanguard
- Leader is Lord ??? (Dante or Shrike) (Blood Angels or Raven Guard)

It's a work in progress but what do you all think? Something that I could work with or do you think someone would say it's cheese??? Basically, this home grown brew is allowing me to play whatever army I want and allies when ever I want.....

I like it. 4 separate armies to customize according to their play styles and making total use of all the space marine codexes is honestly pretty genius. You can create your own scenarios when pairing Shadow Warriors up with Storm Guard. Could even use Blood Angels and C:SM in the same list to make your Shadow Warriors army how you want.

Actually, instead of having four different armies these are the Seraphim Legions Companies. They each have a unquie name and speciality combat tactics. Additionally, they will all be the same color scheme but I think I'll make their helmets and shoulder pads specific to the assigned company. What do you think? What the name of the other two Lords? Any suggestions towards the specialized helmet/shoulder pad? Thanks.

With permission I might just steal this from you! I can't make a final codex choice with my own chapter, and this is actually pretty cool way to get the most fun out of it!

Hmm.. What theme is your chapter styled? Helps with a fittin name! Maybe Lord Teller ( storm guard) and Lord Chruvta (shadow)

As far as theme goes....the chapter colors are a mixture of Leadbelcher and Screaming Bell. The helmet and shoulder pads will represent what company they are from and which combat speciality and style they have mastered. The colors I have yet to decide as I'm not sure. None of the four companies are considered the first, second, and so on companies. There are veterans and nepholytes in every company and they gain rank by increasing and mastering that company's combat style. To be a veteran is a thing of honor and most veterans are highly decorated and some are robed. More to come on this subject....

General Marcus will have the main color scheme with Gold helmets and shoulder pads. He will have an armor type for each company that he wishes to lead and weapon selection changes according to his mission. The Lords will have a Gold helmet and gold trimmings to represent their rank and skill. Furthermore, General Marcus has a core council with the following individuals; ML3 or higher Librarian, Interrogator-Chaplian, High-Priest (Apoth), and the Seraphim Legion's Champion. Still working on these titles though :/

Name Example: Master Darrin, Seraphim Legion's Master Librarian.

For some fluff ideas that I have come up with....is that the Seraphim Legion was created by the God Emperor from all of his Loyal Primarches after the Horus Heresy. Stealing and combining the best traits from each Codex and making the best Angels (Seraphim) into his loyal Protectors. General Marcus's was the first but not considered a Primarch due to his combined gene seed from his Loyal Brothers. Each Lord is then selected from the ranks of this new gene seed and specializes in his preferred Combat Style. Additionally, each company has a Brother-Librarian, Brother-Chaplain, Brother-Priest (Apoth) that are apart of the companies council. That is where I have come with this so far though...

Do any of your companies have a mech detachment? Maybe have that be a 5th company. Something like:

5th Company; Iron assault (iron hands and Ultra marines?) Basicly a mech force
Tac squads in Rhino's
Sternguard in Razorbacks
Assault terms in a land raider
Predators
Whirlwinds
TFC

6th company
The Wall of Faith ( Imperial fist LOTS of bolter guns) a defensive force

Aegis with quad
Tacs with distance heavy and specials
Dreads
Dev squads
Whirlwinds and TFC works here too
dev centurions.

As for company colors. Do shoulder pads in different colors. This way you can actually mix commpanies to get a total force and have differing armies. Well, as long as your opponent is ok with it

Ummm yes I do have an "Armor Company" their company name are the Storm Lords. They specialize in minimal troops with heavy armor, dreadnoughts, terminators, and devastors. I will most likely run these guys as either Iron Hands or Imperial Fists. I could also run them as Wolf Guard heavy army with Long Fang support. What I don't want to end up doing is running a list that looks so completely cut and dry to an "Imperial Fist" or "Salamander" specific army. If I did that like your Wall of Faith list then I might as well make a pure Imperial Fists army and paint them yellow. Most of the time, I most likely will be running allies is an army size of 1850+ pts....so so etching like Strike Force allied with Ironwing.

I've had a similar thought, although I may use the Genesis Chapter. They are Ultramarine successors, so that lets me play with all the major characters without having to do counts-as. As a chapter formed from Horus Heresy veterans, they keep closest to the teachings of Guilliman, so I can see them having his more flexible view of the codex astartes.

I'd just have to alter the color scheme, I don't know why Horus Heresy veterans who mostly fought Word Bearers would take the Bearers' Heresy colors.

Oh I like your idea too and honestly that is where I started and figured....if I am going to paint, customize, build, and write my own lore..I might as we'll take advantage of all the Space Marine Codex. I love building my own models from kitbashing bits together and I have actually enjoyed inventing my own story. Give it try before you put paint on a model...you may find out that you too don't want to limit yourself to one Chapter
