Long-Range Land Speeder Pilot

Good evening ladies and gents,
Since my main log is a cluster of various small WIP's and older stuff i wanted to make a second log for the purposes of my Iron Hands, adeptus mechanicus and forays into titan building. The chances are this will end up being an extremely long term log as i don't know how viable my plans are at present, all i know is what i want to achieve.
So lets begin with some background. Tempestus Ferrum was my first efforts into the realm of the god machine, but he failed after reaching the legs/torso stage. The second warlord, my nurgle one, reached two arms, lower torso and full legs before i was required to destroy him in the process+ of moving 200 miles.
How close? well.... only dodgy photo's remain but;
Now we reach the third attempt at the god machine... but not the final one i hope.
I found some solid paper craft designs for a walord based on this design;
Should this paper construct succeed i will begin drawing up plans and making a solid wood frame for a lasting version in the christmas/new year period, and begin construction next year.
If i complete that titan i will then move on to this design, a personal favourite but i imagine it'll be a traipse to build
And finally, in many many years time i will make the third and final titan... my last attempt at this design;
So lets begin with a photo of the lower body paper mock up, with a servitor and war engine as scale
Since the pva i've used to coat the weaker joints of the titan, and to generally ensure a complete solid bond with as much surface area as possible, i've got to wait a little while for it to dry. I will hopefully be able to use the rest of my day off to paint up the first servitor test mini, or possibly an iron hands test marine.

So before the update i should explain why i am building the first one out of paper-card. The design itself isn't terribly easy to figure out, and though i have found basic templates they are.... difficult to make into a reality. I have, through a combination of bodging and rushing, managed to get some vague resemblance of the artwork. Since i required a physically resembled prototype for the 19th of this month for an apoc match, i decided to rush a first version... this version. It is, essentially, a mock up for my real attempt coming in the near future. Indeed, i have learned much from this build, particularly its weaker points.
Now for the update, in the background i think there's a defiler/knight titan for scale.

Go big or go home. Looking good so far.
Are your iron hands going to be gritty like your Iron Warriors?
Also more pictures of that dreadknight conversion would be nice.

In a different style, i think so. I am trying to develop a unique scheme for them, which mixed results on the test mini. As for the dreadknight, it will be appearing in the mechanicus portion of this log fairly shortly, perhaps as early as November.
I won't be getting a job with forgeworld for the quality of this build.
With the paper joints on the legs have given out once on each leg i've had to do some serious retro-engineering around additional stability. I'm not especially proud of the set of bodged together paper volcano cannons, but given the weight issues and the lack of suitable tubing to hand... they will have to do. Dies Chartula (day of paper) lives!
In honesty i can't wait to build this thing properly, paper is lovely but the greater the scale the more catastrophic problems can become. It has however given me an absolutly solid grasp on the design, what i need to do to build it with the correct weight balance and how much of the design i'm going to have to redevelop for real world physics to apply. It's going to be a fantastic challange, but for the next two weeks i'm on break from god machine until it's day of use. I have, however, got my marine log coming up. The Iron Hands, what comps i lacked, have been ordered and in a few days the test models should be appearing.
I would ask for feedback, but in honesty i post it for two reasons;
1.So others can get a sense of the scale and practicality of the design,
2: because when i complete the titan i want to show the two pictures next to each other as a 'well, i think i've done good' moment.

Now for some bad news. Several days ago the concept paper model collapsed before its time, leaving me with two weeks to fill in the void. Fortunately i am a resourceful man, and the lord of decay has been whispering sweet nothings into my ear.
The MKII. A Warlord developed to act as a go between for the final model (hopefully the MKIII) and the MKI, with improvements in the designs stability whilst hopefully remaining an easy to build bash together nurglegluefest.
In answer to the questions;
1; Yes this is increadably rushed.
2; Yes i am bodging the devil out of this for a combination of speed and stability.
3; Yea i am aware i am using the ' lol its nurgle' excuse for vaguely lazy modelling. I am still putting some effort in so i ask forgiveness for that...
4; Yeah i am building the full titan as an imperial construct.
Now for the photo's, the first is the interior photo showing the PVC piping i am using for lower leg support, since this was one of the key failure points on the MKI. The upper leg is still card, though with re-enforcement in the interior (it's shape making it solid even during it's paper phase).
The next two are current progress.
Hopefully you folks can bear with me until i build the MK3... and forgive the stopgap mk2.

Even for a rushed paper construct it's looking good.
Looking forward to the plastic version

Now for an update on Plague-godmachine. I've found some cheapy £1 toys and halloween pieces to use, and as a result have managed to bodge together a significant lump of the built in a short period. The only major build left is the head, the rest of the work will be detailing and structure re-enforcement.
Here's how it looks at present;
The big surprise is that it's taken four days to go from the death of the MK1 to the near completion of the MK2. I won't lie, as rushed build goes i've caught myself off guard. This does mean i can put some more effort in during the next few days though.

I've often lamented my lack of a good photography set up, and felt its cut the quality of my mini's in half. Now i've solved the issue, and invested in a fairly reasonable fold up lighting rig. I thought i'd take a photo of one of my favorite mini's from this past year, an Imperial Fist.
C&C weclome,

now for another update. The nurglification has progress... the head hasn't turned out great, but i hope to do alot more work to it during the next week if i can resource parts. If not, the one eye plague head will stay. Note, these photo's are in poor light without a descent space to put it in, so it looks a bit rubbish if i'm honest. Hopefully people will, between the photos, be able to to catch the general drift the mini. I hope.....

Considering this didnt exist a week ago and with a £15 budget i think its fair to say ive done an ok job.
Also, having to work for a living and trying to have a real life while doing this i think ive also lost the will to live. Ironic, given the god this machine is dedicated to.
I'd ask for C&C, but to be honest even i know it looks like a rush week long titan job.

I must admit that I quite like it. It doesn't need a head/face of some sort. It seems a bit decapitated at the moment.
Impressive for the the money spent and time it's been built in!

After it's performance thise weekend i cannot abbandon it so readily. The Mk3 will still happen, but the MK2 will be refined and rebuild, adapted and regrown.
Here's a photo from the day with it is (and a stompa stand in as we had to filled 2k points at the last minute)
In the photo at the back. The three stompas are a split between me and another guy. His is the GW and the bucket, the other with the card arms is my old stompa. I realised when people started dropping out i need to find another 1k, so i repaired this scratch build on thursday night. not subtle, but it does the job. There's also a few of my iron warrior landraiders, and speedily gathered plague zombies.
In total the Dies Morbus (day of disease) killed; a warhound, reaver, stormlord and shadowsword in the super heavies catagory, in the general tanks division in the region of 6-8 kills and some infantry in the two rounds it could shoot. (3 round match, i got blocked from firing by blinding barage in turn 2).
Total damage taken; 1 void shield was taken down in turn 1, and by turn 3 was back up. Shockingly brutal.
I think it's safe to say i'm in love, and i'm debating adding an emperor class next year. RUles from GW. 2 volcano cannons and 2 double barrel turbo lasers did that amount of damage, imagine what 6 volcano cannons and 2 vengence cannons will do. I'm actually cackling to myself gently.

My current WIP is my gaming club. Following apoc (two tables, super heavy and none super heavy combats) on saturday, there's been some caffufle. We've decided to resolve the issue by changing things for next year... but i'm pushing for super heavy only combat. As a result, i'm currently working on producing a few more titans to get people going 'oh it's so quick and easy'... it is, if you want a warhound anyways. My current efforts have gone rewarded, with one person building a warhound and another working in making a bio-titan.
I've also been pushing to level of detail i can go to with fairly easy to obtain items and plastic rod. Here's where i'm up to;
I'll be working on this, finishing my iron hands army for nov 15th, Building a reaver and if i can find the time i will be starting Project Grandfather. Everything should take place in this log, unless i find myself doing random works over the next few days.
