So GWs TEQ Captain, while not a terrible model, is too small and really showing its age, at least in my opinion. That, and its in Finecast and the arms aren't seperated, which means putting different weapons like say a TH or a SS is going to be a pain in the ass.

With that in Mind, I was thinking about ways to kit bash my own TEQ captain/CM from other models. I was thinking for the front chest piece, using one of the robed DW Knights pieces from the DW boxset (of which I have plenty of): Specifically thia one:

All I have to do is cut/file off the DA chest insigna, and I'm good to go. Other than that though, I wondering what other Parts I should use. Like which legs to use? The basic Termie/Assault termie legs look too plain IMO, so I was wondering if I should use one of the other Termie legs (GK, DW, SW) And also, If I wanted to model the Burning Blade for him, which is the best best to use there? I was thinking about a GK Termie Sword.

Any other thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Just had to check out which Termie captain you were on about... wow.. i recall that being included in 3rd edition (maybe was 4th) 40k boxed sets. Showing its age somewhat.

Luckily for you theres tonnes of beautiful plastic termie parts now.

Depending what your chapter iconography is, theres some rather ornate legs (all parts really) in the Dark Angel Terminators set you already have?

If you're not adverse to ordering bits or getting a new kit then the sword off the empire wizard sprue is, in fact, burning.

I'm planning on making a custom vanilla marines chapter, so I'd probably have to cut and file off the DA iconography. But yes, the DW termie legs would look great!

To be honest, anything from the GK or DA kit should work, and if you bash them together, would be double awesome! For the burning blade, if you are confident with GS, then a GK sword with some flames sculpted on looks pretty good. I did something similar for my Crowe conversion and it looked good.

If you're not FW averse any of Tyberos, Culln, Huron or bits from any of their terminator kits would be useful parts or base models.

I would love to use the Tyberos or Cullin FW models, I'm just wondering how easy it would be to swap their arms for different weapons. Are they separate or is it one huge chunk like the GW termie captain?

I don't own either model (yet!), but a quick image search on everyone's favourite snooping search engine reveals that both come with detachable arms and heads so the prospects of customisation are good.

Most of the FW termies come with seperate arms, they also do decent kits of different arms/hands that would likely provide a weapon to suit your needs, alot of which can be found from bits sellers on sites like ebay.

Not a great example but a simple hand/arm swap can do wonders for a change of armament.
