Personally I take my
Tac sgts bare (bolter + chainsword). I'd rather put the points into more units or upgrading better units (that are more survivable).
Dropping the
DW Launchers, the 1 pod stern to make room for Tiggy, the power fists gives you 195 points. Using that 195 points you could get another full
Tac squad or (
imo even better) a Thunderfire cannon + sniper scouts with an extra body (heavy weapon scout).
This gives you a coversave boosted piece of terrain (from the Techmarine that comes with the
TFC) for the cannon + scouts to sit behind AND means you're not starting the game with only 2 vindicators on the table (which would get shot up like no tomorrow if you're going 2nd and that's the only targets available)!
Much better investment than some power weapons on Tacs that are unlikely to get to use them. If you have points left after that, then by all means use them for upgrades .. full units instead of upgrades, leftover points into upgrades. That's usually the smart build.
