Can anyone explain the sweep attack? Also I have very little experience with chariots and I believe in the faqs & errata it states that these are considered chariots. Can you charge in and attack on a barge? Also whats the most effective way to use them?

You are correct that the FAQ has updated them to Chariots. Without wanting to copy-paste the rules (Dakka can get in trouble with GW if too much of that goes on), the Sweep Attack rules in the BRB are very close to the existing ones in the Necrons Codex (as far as I am aware), and yes you can charge with a chariot (but as a vehicle you won't lock your opponents in combat).

For more information, borrow a BRB and look up chariots in the Index (away from my book atm, so can't give a page reference).

As for tactics, no clue sorry!

The biggest change from the description in the codex is now you can only sweep on a 6 inch move i believe.

Basically my tactic was flat out turn 1 to get as much distance as I could turn 1. Turn 2 try and sweep attack a unit , shoot that unit, and then charge a unit(doesnt have to be the same unit). The sweep attacks are nasty to vehicles so i would try and pop a vehicle and then charge the troops.

The command barge is a great harrassment unit and a distractor. I usually always lose mine during the battle, but sometimes they stick around and cause a lot of grief for your opponent. My friends learned real quick that you cant ignore it or he will mess up your day. In turn, they spend a lot of firepower trying to focus on it and that lets my wraiths close in.

You can do a sweep attack moving 12" as the CCB is a fast skimmer. Also don't forget it has an under slung 2 shot Str6 tesla cannon. A war scythe is a must for a lord on a CCB--the only way to pop tougher vehicles on the sweep attack. As for assaulting, yes you can, but your opponent is not locked in combat so will be able to shoot at you in their next turn. You do have the benefit of being front and side armor 13 and they cannot target the lord separately from the barge--they can in combat though. MSS work in CC from a CCB as well as you are considered in base contact with any model in contact with the hull of the CCB. The only place that assaulting in a CCB is dangerous is vs SM. They have krak grenades that are Str8 at initiative vs you AV11 rear armour. You do get D6 str6 HoW attacks with chariots though.
