So I have been looking to get back into Warhammer 40k after I return from Army Basic/AIT training and have been building a bit of a portfolio of things like places to get models, good tutorials ect. (Dakka dakka has been one of the things added to my list) but then I came across this

[Let's not support piracy-K_K]

A "Forge World Warhammer 40K Imperial Guard MACHARIUS VANQUISHER" for $84. a model that cost at least $177 before shipping and any taxes if you get it from the Forge World site.

Link to the Forgeworld model on the Frist party site.---> http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard/Imperial_Guard_Super_Heavy_Tanks/MACHARIUS-VANQUISHER.html

Now I am always looking for a good deal but this seem like one of those "to good to be true" bargains.
Have any of you guys had any experience with [Let's not support piracy-K_K] ? From what I have seen its a Chinese Ebay. Seeing as the picture for the item looks like it has been copy from the Forge world website I would half expect to get a pure green Army man model that I use to get from the dollar tree that has some extra bits glued to it with elmer's glue.
But then again it could something good.

What do you guys and gals make of this?

Its called a recast mini, theyre illegal reproductions, generally a higher quality than GWs own product. Posting the link is against forum rules btw.

I dont think it is, It says six people have bought the item, four left 5 star reviews and, one left a 3 star review. I may have to buy a small box set and see how it goes.

No, its a recast, trust me on that one. I'm really not joking when I say the recasts are higher quality than the actual GW/FW products, theres a reason why they got such good reviews...

There is NO WAY, ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, to get actual FW products at less than the price they sell it for on their website. Put two and two together.

(PS, those prices are pretty high as far as recasts go, I'm not sharing my secrets, so dont bother asking)

There is a ton of other 40k items on the site. Most of the reviews seem forged however; "pun pun" . I have not seen any of the reviews say much more than "excellent" and those that do seem not to say anything about the quality vearse the GW/FW model. "assuming they are recast and not from GW/FW"

I'd say a recast too, especially since they are based in China.

They're also selling these:

[Let's not support piracy-K_K]

"Finecast" Centurions that they outright say are imitations and not the real thing.

(How the hell can they do this openly?)

Well its a company in china, and in china there are no laws preventing someone froming copying something and reselling it as their own.

One thing.
How is it even possible to make a better cast off a recast?

Interesting though. Recasted models that are better an cheaper than GW.

The chinese government encourages copying foreign products.

That said, they're very good at it, and many of them cap get the product to a UK address faster than FW can.

However, until you know the company, you're risking them just walking with your cash and no legal recourse, as well as gak quality issues (generally its better than FW, but you can't tell until you get it) and prohibitive shipping on orders below x. (X is a lot of money)

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

Based on a preponderance of evidence this seems to be a recaster.

Dakka policy is not to support piracy.

Remember kids, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
