Hi I thinking about getting some Chaos Daemons that I will use as allies to my Chaos space marines. I am wondering what units shall i get?

suggest some competitive units.

A.) What are you running? Having an idea of what to synergize with is important.

B.) See A.)

Hounds, Horrors, and Plaguebearers seem to be the most useful in specialist roles. Fateweaver is a competitive auto take in most list, Thirsters, GUO's, and LoC all can be great.

Go with LoC, Hounds, DP of Tz, Horrors/Bearers for a general hurt list.

Well if the Daemons are Secondary, you will only ever get 1 of each slot except Troops. Some good options:

Khorne Herald + Flesh Hounds (HQ + FA): Fast moving melee-brick with ludicrous survivability and very bitey. The Herald 'tanks out' by catching missiles and also provides a 3++ Invulnerable save that occasionally goes wrong.

Tzeentch Herald (HQ): Cheapest Divination buffs in the game, so really just an easy source of Presience.

(Any Greater Daemon)(HQ): Come in various flavours but they are all really stompy and very, very cheap for what you get. Each of them excels at something different so it really depends what you actually need your allies to do.

Slaaneshii Herald + Seekers (HQ+FA): Probably the most violent unit in the game for points spent, you'll get lots of attacks and they all Rend. Similar to the Flesh Hounds except you trade any defence you might have had for even more stabbing.

Soulgrinder (HS): It's like a Defiler except better armour and much cheaper. Just an all-round excellent walker and can be configured for multiple jobs.

Daemonettes (Tr): Probably the fastest infantry in the game, and some of the stabbiest as well. Really excellent for claiming enemy objectives.

Plaguebearers (Tr): Some of the toughest infantry in the game with a silly-good cover save for cheap. No real strategy here, just dump them on your objective and relax as your opponent has bigger threats to deal with.

ML3 Biomancy GUO with 2xGreater
2x10 Plaguebearers
ML3 Biomancy Nurgle DP, Wings, 2xGreater rewards or Nurgle Soulgrinder with Phlem

The GUO is simply one of the toughest models around, has a 50% chance of getting Iron Arm, 50% chance of getting Endurance. 4 of 6 Greater rewards make him tougher, and you can always swap one of the others for a Balesword. Plop him in the center of the board as far forward as you can get him and march him in any direction for board control.

Plaguebearers are the toughest objective holders around and dirt cheap to boot. Plop them on an objective and dare your opponent to try and shoot them off. Outstanding if a ruins or Aegis is present.

The DP is more questionable. He is more expensive than the GUO, less tough, but is an immediate pressure unit. A great compliment to any other pressure units(Nurgle Bikers, Spawn, you may have). Alternatively the cheaper Soulgrinder is just plain tough, easy 3+ cover and a 5++ on an AV13/4HP Walker is rough. I'd probably recommend the Soulgrinder over the DP in most cases, unless you are running CSM DP.

I might include screamers on the list of potential buys, especially if you are buying Tzeentch heralds on Discs. Can make for a pretty good combined unit. Even on their won they can make you opponent have to be very mindful of where he places his units.

I would say SoulGrinder for sure, and then possibly Tzeentch Herald for the Divination casting to get some twin linked action.

Pretty sure none of those suggestions are actually legal. The "Heralds" section says something about only being able to take Heralds if Demons is your PRIMARY detachment. Even then I think it also states you need one regular Demon HQ first. Can anyone verify that? If I'm wrong it would be great 'cause there's a few things I'd REALLY like to try.

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Wait, what were we talking about again? Did I ever tell you about the time I gave you five bees for a quarter? That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

Nope, if Daemons are you Primary detachment then you may take 4 Heralds per HQ slot.
If Daemons are not your Primary detachment then you may only take 1 Herald per HQ slot.

I second the GUO, even as GK I've had problems with those when the psychic powers work out.

Lvl3 Herald, exalted locus + 15 pink horror, iridescent horror + bastion = 344 points. you get 7d6, 24” s6 ap4, twin linked, precision shots. A little bit of AA in there too.

It really depends on the list you are running for CSM - but I am a fan of two loadouts. They both run troops as either

10x Plague Bearers or 18x Daemonettes

These troops provide drastically different roles from one another. For an assault element I would go with either:

Khorne Herald on Juggurnaut w/ Lesser Gift (AP 2 Axe),Locus of Fury
18x Flesh Hounds

Slaanesh Herald on Seeker w/ Lesser Gift (Witsteal is actually good against nids, otherwise Etherblade), Locus of Beguilement
18x Seekers w/ Heartseeker (Icon of Chaos if you bring Daemonettes)

Both units are really killy - I like the Seekers a bit more because they can outflank from the board edge to pressure the backfield. they also always get their Locus bonus - I would recommend a Sorcerer with the CSM unit to shoot for Invisibility for them. You can also drop the 18x Daemonettes right next to them - 36 T3 5++ bodies arriving on one Flank are generally hard for any army to deal with.

Tzeentch Screamers make a good addition to a CSM list because they offer extreme threat against any enemy early in the game, taking some fire from your Rhinos.
