Hey hey Dakka.
I'm fairly certain this is the right area for my question.
Space Marine HQs on bikes; any idea on the best way to make and/or convert them?
More specifically Chapter Masters and Librarians...
Getting ID all of the time isn't too pleasant.
Thanks.

If I sound like I'm being a condescending butthole, I'm not. Read my reply as neutrally as possible, please and thank you.

Captains and Chapter Masters are easy. Just get a bike, and some fancy looking upper torso/shoulders/helmets and put them together. I'd recommend either a sternguard kit or the captain box. To be honest, probably just the sternguard would work, they are awfully ornate. Wargear choice might require swiping bits from other kits.

Librarians are going to be a little rougher. I might suggest the robed biker from the Ravenwing sprue, or another random DA biker as a base. Speaking of the Ravenwing sprue, lots of nice bits there to spruce up a bike HQ. GK bits might help here as well

A chaplain needs his crozious, and some extra skulls. Not sure if there is an arm swap you could do. Alternatively, try to find the old bike chaplain they made.

Librarian is the easiest of the three by far: get the robed biker legs from either dark vengeance, the ravenwing command squad, or the regular ravenwing bike upgrade box, and slap either the dark vengeance plastic librarian torso on it- or a finecast librarian torso.

Captain- really depends on how ornate you want him to be, but for a pretty "plain" captain combine the torso from the commander box with a regular torso back, and put it onto a set of bike legs. Skys the limit with conversions if you want to get fancier than that.

Biker Librarian is really easy if you can accept the wings on the bikes, use the Ravenwing biker sgt, The ravenwing plasma gunners handlebars and the Librarian from Dark Vengeance,

cut the libby at the middle, and play around for a nice fit to the
biker legs, maybe greenstuff the gap if required, dont attach the sword arm.

use the plasma gunners handlebars to get the left arm holding the bars, and keep the right posed as if he is casting.

raid the bits box for a sheathed sword, or whatever force weapon you want to add maybe a book... the old chaplain on bike cast has a nice bit of luggage on the back with helmet and a book in some chains.

If you really hate the winged fairings, maybe mod a new one made from the large book off the ravenwing upgrades sprue (its meant for sammaels speeder Im sure)

Edit any small details that you like to make it your own

If its the only Dark Vengeance bike included in the army then it will be notably nicer than everyone elses, adding to the supposed stature of the character (by being more bling!!) ... for a dark angels one I might go for the even posher rear wings from the RW command squad set, its two winged watchers in the dark holding up a halo... just the kind of over the top imagery we need lol.
